Concordia University Acceptance Rate: What Official Data Shows

Concordia’s own statement

Concordia’s CEGEP cut-off page, re-read on October 8, 2026, gives this warning next to its published cut-offs:

“Minimum cut-off averages should be used as indicators. The cut-off data may change depending on the applicant pool. Applicants who meet the stated minimum requirements are not guaranteed admission to these programs.”

Its Canadian high school requirements page says it more plainly: “Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.” It adds that admission averages vary by program. None of the Concordia admissions pages we read uses the phrase “acceptance rate” or “admission rate”. Concordia frames selectivity around a moving cut-off, not a percentage of applicants admitted.

How we got these numbers

An acceptance rate is offers divided by applicants, for the same group and year. We looked for both counts in Concordia’s Fast Facts, its open-data catalogue, its Office of the Provost pages, its Board and Senate news and its budget updates. None of them gives an application or offer count, so there is nothing to divide and we don’t publish a Concordia percentage.

Instead, the headline range (an R score of 19 to 30) is copied from Concordia’s own CEGEP cut-off page: the lowest numeric overall cut-off is 19 for Art History (BFA) and the highest is 30 for Aerospace Engineering (BEng). Programs that ask only for a completed DEC are left out of that range. We re-read each figure on October 8, 2026. Concordia shows no year next to these cut-offs, so treat them as the current published minimums, not as Fall 2027 guarantees.

What the range is not: a chance of admission. A cut-off is the lowest CRC Concordia will consider, and it can rise with the applicant pool.

What official data exists, and what doesn’t

Concordia’s public institutional data is enrolment data. The 2025-26 data table on its Fast Facts page counts 36,456 undergraduates and 7,517 graduate students in credit courses. Another 4,653 people studied through non-credit Continuing Education, for a grand total of 48,458. (The chart labels on the same page still show an older credit total of 43,922.)

In the same table, 32,445 credit-enrolled students (74.1%) are Quebec residents, 4,188 (9.6%) are Canadians from elsewhere and 7,313 (16.7%) are international. These are enrolled-student headcounts, not applications or offers.

We found no public Concordia fact book or admissions dashboard behind those figures. The Office of the Provost directory lists a manager for the Office of Institutional Planning and Analysis, with no reports or downloads linked. Concordia’s open-data catalogue had no application, offer or admissions dataset on October 8, 2026.

Quebec institutions sit outside Ontario’s OUAC system and Common University Data Ontario. Quebec has no equivalent shared dataset, so Concordia cannot be compared through those sources.

Concordia’s November 4, 2025 budget update discusses application volume without publishing counts. It reports 7.1% growth in new registrations, while international applications fell by almost 40% and international registrations by nearly 23% compared with 2024. Percentage changes alone can’t produce an acceptance rate.

The cut-offs Concordia publishes instead

For Quebec CEGEP applicants, the university publishes a minimum CRC (Cote de Rendement au Collégial, the Quebec R score) for each undergraduate program. This is the closest thing Concordia offers to a selectivity measure, and unlike an acceptance rate it is stated by the university itself. The selection below spans all four faculties; entries marked “DEC” are programs where Concordia publishes no numeric CRC minimum at all.

What actually determines Concordia admission

Concordia assesses you against the published cut-off for your educational background, not against a single Canada-wide standard. The same program carries a different published minimum depending on whether you are applying from a Quebec CEGEP, a Canadian high school, the IB Diploma, the Baccalauréat français, or the British GCE. Comparing one program across those systems shows how differently the bar is expressed.

Two further Concordia mechanics matter more than any rate would. Applicants may indicate up to three program choices in priority order. If the first choice is unsuccessful, Concordia automatically considers the next one. Its advice is to use all three choices and include a less competitive option. Only one Bachelor of Commerce program may appear among the three. John Molson applicants therefore need an alternative-faculty backup. Concordia also publishes an availability list by term. On October 8, 2026, several Winter 2027 programs, such as Actuarial Mathematics, already showed as closed. Applying early is a more useful lever at Concordia than any percentage.

Several Fine Arts programs, including Studio Art, Design, Film Production and Photography, are barely decided on a cut-off at all. Studio Art publishes “DEC” for CEGEP applicants and a C+ average for Canadian high-school applicants. It also requires a portfolio of 15 to 20 items and a letter of intent. The real selection there happens in the submitted work, not in a number.
