Course requirements from Ontario
Concordia asks Ontario students for a high school diploma with at least six Grade 12 U or M courses, including English 4U. For the Bachelor of Computer Science, one of them must be Advanced Functions 4U or Calculus and Vectors 4U.
The Health and Life Science option also needs two of Biology 4U, Chemistry 4U or Physics 4U. You don't need a programming course, and the ACT or SAT is not required. Plan your courses with our course planner.

What average you need
Concordia lists a minimum cut-off of a B overall and a B+ in math for high school students. It says cut-offs should be used as indicators, may change with the applicant pool, and don't guarantee admission.

Core courses and elective groups
The department describes the BCompSc as a 90-credit program. It is made up of the Computer Science Core, a Complementary Core, Computer Science electives, math electives, and a minor or general electives. Students who need the extra year take up to 120 credits, as noted above.
The core covers theory, math, programming methods, computer architecture, data structures, operating systems and software engineering. Computer Science electives are grouped into Artificial Intelligence, Computer Games, Data Analytics, and Web Services and Applications.
The degree also comes as joint majors in Data Science with Mathematics and Statistics, and in Computation Arts and Computer Science. A separate BCompSc in Health and Life Sciences mixes computer science with biology.

Getting into Honours
You can't apply to Honours from high school. In first year you may register in Honours courses, but acceptance as an Honours student depends entirely on your marks. Honours needs 60 or more credits in the discipline and strong performance to enter and to stay in.
There is an Honours version of the BCompSc and of each joint major. The Undergraduate Calendar sets the exact grade rules.

The guaranteed $4,000 entrance award
The Concordia Undergraduate Excellence Award gives $4,000 to new students who qualify. There is no separate application. If you meet the rules, the award is automatic.
For Fall 2027 or Winter 2028 entry, you must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident finishing Grade 12, CEGEP, the IB diploma or the French Baccalaureate at a school in Canada. You can't have attended a post-secondary school other than CEGEP, and you must study full time, at least 12 credits a term.
High school students need an A or A+ average. IB students need a score of 35 or more. Concordia's admissions team works out the average from the grades it has and the courses your program requires.
Applying to co-op
If you are applying from high school, you apply to co-op at the same time as your Concordia application. You tick the box that says you want the co-op option when you pick your program.
Co-op alternates full-time study terms with full-time, paid work terms. The Gina Cody School says students get 12 months of work in their field. The department says co-op is open to a limited number of students with suitable qualifications, so asking for it does not guarantee a place.

Integrated path to a master's
Computer Science offers an integrated path. You can take up to 16 credits that count toward both your bachelor's degree and certain master's programs. These include the Master of Applied Computer Science and Master of Engineering programs in Software Engineering, Information Systems Security and Quality Systems Engineering.

IB, AP and transfer applicants
AP exams are not required, but Concordia says they may earn you advanced standing. Students in the IB Career-related Programme need 4.8 out of 7 overall and a 4 in HL or 5 in SL math.
Students already at Concordia who want to transfer in need a 2.7 overall, a 3.0 in math and a 1.7 in Gina Cody School courses. They also need at least two of MATH 203, 204 and 205, or the equivalent. Students from other universities need a B overall and a B+ in math, with calculus and linear algebra courses.
