Course requirements from Ontario

Concordia asks Ontario students for a high school diploma with at least six Grade 12 U or M courses, including English 4U (Français 4U at a French school). For the Bachelor of Engineering, you also need Advanced Functions 4U or Calculus and Vectors 4U, and Physics 4U or Chemistry 4U. If you apply with Chemistry 4U, you need Physics 3U.

Each engineering program page sets its own minimum grades for your overall average, your math and your physics. Plan your Grade 12 courses with our course planner.

Minimum cut-offs, not targets

Concordia publishes minimum cut-off averages and says to use them as indicators. The cut-offs can change with the applicant pool, and meeting them doesn't guarantee admission.

High school minimums are letter grades. Concordia's grading-scale table converts them for Ontario: C+ is 67% to 69%, B- is 70% to 72%, B is 73% to 76%, B+ is 77% to 79% and A- is 80% to 84%. The lowest bars are for Building, Civil and Industrial Engineering, and the highest is Aerospace.

These are much lower than most Ontario engineering ranges. Compare schools in our engineering requirements guide and our Concordia acceptance rate page.

Applying from other provinces

Concordia lists the same pattern for every province: a senior math course, plus Physics or Chemistry, with the lower-level physics course required if you use Chemistry. In Alberta that's Math 30-1 or 31 with Physics 30 or Chemistry 30 (and Physics 20). In British Columbia it's Pre-Calculus 12 or Calculus 12 with Physics 12 or Chemistry 12 (and Physics 11).

In Manitoba you need Pre-Calculus 40S or Calculus 40S with Physics 40S or Chemistry 40S (and Physics 30S). Concordia's grading-scale table converts each province's percentages to its letter grades, and the bands differ by province, so check yours before comparing.

CEGEP, IB and other routes

Quebec CEGEP students are admitted on their overall, math and physics R-scores (CRC), plus set DEC courses such as Calculus 1 and 2, Linear Algebra, Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, and General Chemistry. Some technical DECs qualify without all of those courses.

For Mechanical Engineering, IB students need 27 points overall, with 4 in HL or 5 in SL math and 5 in physics, and either math or physics at HL. The ACT and SAT aren't required.

First Nations, Inuit and Métis students who don't meet the usual requirements may be eligible through the Kaié:ri Nikawerà:ke Indigenous Bridging Program.

Dates and how to apply

Concordia's Fall deadline for engineering is March 1. U.S. and international applicants should apply by February 1 to leave time for immigration documents. You apply on Concordia's own application.

Concordia says it may close a program at any time after the official deadline. A winter start, with a November 1 deadline, is also listed on the program pages.

What the degree looks like

A Bachelor of Engineering takes at least four years (120 credits) of full-time study, depending on your background. Concordia's Mechanical Engineering page says undergraduates can take up to 16 credits that count toward both the bachelor's degree and a Master of Engineering.

All the programs on this page are offered by the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science. U.S. students can take a version of the program that meets U.S. Federal Student Aid rules, without co-op or online courses.

Co-op

Co-op is optional and competitive. Students alternate study terms with three paid work terms, and engineering work terms last 12 to 16 weeks. Concordia welcomes about 1,500 new undergraduates into co-op each year.

Gina Cody students need a minimum CGPA of 2.5 for co-op, enough credits left for three work terms, and a 12-hour online career course before their first job search.

Tuition and scholarships

For 2026-27 (Fall 2026 and Winter 2027), Concordia charges Quebec residents $103.92 per credit. Canadians from outside Quebec admitted from Fall 2024 pay $432.85 per credit, which includes a $328.93 charge the Quebec government sets. International students in Engineering and Computer Science pay $1,285 per credit.

Every applicant to the Gina Cody School is automatically considered for its entrance awards. The awards on its list range from $1,000 to $15,000.

For parents

Concordia's published minimums are lower than most Ontario engineering programs, so it can be a sensible choice alongside more competitive schools. Remember that out-of-province tuition in Quebec is higher than the Quebec rate.

Concordia is a separate application from OUAC with a later March 1 deadline. Check the program page your child picks, because the minimum grades differ.
