McGill University Acceptance Rate: What Official Data Shows

McGill does not label a figure “acceptance rate” or “admission rate.” What it does publish, in its own Enrolment Services “Admissions Profile,” is the raw applications, offers, and registered-student counts behind one — by term and by faculty. Every number below is McGill’s own, with the exact page and date attached; the rate itself is one we calculated from those numbers, clearly marked as ours.

Official program-by-program admission ranges

McGill does not publish one blended acceptance rate. For Ontario high-school applicants, its requirements pages publish a previous Top 6 reference average and prerequisites for each program, current as of August 25, 2026. McGill states these are references from a prior cycle, not guaranteed future cut-offs. Quebec CEGEP, IB, A-Level, CAPE, and U.S. applicants follow separate curriculum-specific requirements not shown here.

Applications, offers, and registered students

McGill’s own Enrolment Services publishes an “Admissions Profile” every term with a “Total Undergraduate” row for application, offer, and registered-student counts. McGill never labels a column “acceptance rate” — the two right-hand columns below are ratios Stellar Advisers calculated from McGill’s own published counts, not figures McGill itself states.

McGill’s Fall 2024 Admissions Profile returned a blocked automated response (HTTP 403) on the same day — that year is omitted rather than estimated. McGill states its applicant total is deduplicated across faculties, not a sum of per-faculty counts.

Fall 2025 demand by faculty

McGill publishes applications and registered students by faculty, but not offers by faculty — only the Total Undergraduate offer figure in the table above. Because faculty-level offer counts aren’t published, no per-faculty acceptance rate can be calculated from McGill’s own data.

What actually determines McGill admission

The ranges above are references from a prior cycle, not guaranteed cut-offs. McGill evaluates each applicant against the rules for their educational background — Ontario Top 6, Quebec CEGEP R-score, IB, A-Level, CAPE, or U.S. curriculum — and reviews prerequisite courses within that calculation. McGill’s most demanding published references are in Engineering, where Ontario Top 6 averages run from 90% (Software Engineering) to 96% (Mechanical Engineering), well above the 90% Arts reference.
