University of Calgary

UCalgary generally requires an Alberta high-school diploma or equivalent and five approved Grade 12-level courses. The exact subjects and competitive average vary by program. For example, Engineering requires senior English, calculus, pre-calculus, chemistry, and physics equivalents, while Haskayne Business requires senior English and mathematics plus approved courses.

Ontario applicants still follow UCalgary's five-course admission model, but must select Ontario in the university's live curriculum tool to map Alberta prerequisite names to the current Ontario equivalents. Do not infer equivalencies from course titles alone, especially for Engineering, Health Sciences, Nursing, and Science.

UCalgary's current standing schedule lists March 1 for fall undergraduate applications, with no later international deadline shown. Documents are due March 15. Offers dated April 1 or earlier must be accepted by May 1. UCalgary has not separately labelled these as confirmed Fall 2027 dates. Verify the live page when that cycle opens.

The official sources reviewed for this guide do not publish a current university-wide undergraduate acceptance rate. UCalgary instead publishes program-specific requirements and estimated competitive averages. Use the current program page and admissions tool rather than an unofficial overall percentage.

Yes. UCalgary's current application FAQ says applicants may select up to two program choices. If you are admitted to your second choice first, you are automatically reconsidered for your first choice when new grades arrive, without reapplying. Two-choice rule rechecked October 17, 2026: https://www.ucalgary.ca/future-students/undergraduate/admissions/how-to-apply . The older application FAQ URL returned 404.

The Fall 2026 UCalgary application FAQ lists $125 for applicants with Canadian credentials and $145 for applicants with international credentials. Fees can change by cycle, so confirm the amount in the live application before paying.
