Fall 2027 admissions planning
University of Calgary admission requirements and deadlines
UCalgary normally evaluates five approved Grade 12-level courses, including every prerequisite for the selected program. Requirements are published in Alberta course names, so Ontario and international applicants should choose their own curriculum in the university's live admissions tool rather than guessing at course equivalencies.
UCalgary publishes estimated competitive averages instead of a university-wide percentage. Read the UCalgary acceptance-rate evidence for the university's statement and available program data.
Admission pattern
Five Grade 12 courses
The exact subjects and competitive average change by program.
Program choices
Up to two
A second-choice offer does not end consideration for the first choice.
Early consideration
Four Grade 11 courses
Any early offer remains conditional on final Grade 12 requirements.
Fall 2027 date status
Use the standing schedule, then verify the live 2027 cycle
UCalgary's current dates page lists one March 1 application deadline for fall undergraduate admission—domestic and international alike—with documents due March 15. The source reviewed here does not separately label those dates as Fall 2027. They are planning checkpoints—not permission to ignore the live page when the next application opens.
Fall 2027
Fall 2027 cycle status
UCalgary's dates page publishes a standing undergraduate schedule—applications open August 15 (international) and October 1 (domestic), close March 1, and offers must be accepted by May 1—without labelling any date as Fall 2027-specific. The most recent cycle-labelled evidence is the Fall 2026 application FAQ.
Plan against the standing schedule and verify the live dates page and application when the Fall 2027 cycle opens.

Fall 2026 FAQ
Application route and program choices
Applicants use UCalgary's own online application—not OUAC—and may apply to up to two programs. If admitted to the second choice first, the application is automatically reconsidered for the first choice when new grades arrive, without reapplying.

Standing deadlines
Standing fall application deadlines
The dates page lists March 1 for fall undergraduate applications and March 15 for required documents. Offers dated April 1 or earlier have a May 1 acceptance deadline; later offers allow 30 days. High-school courses must be complete by June 30 and final documents are due August 1.
The current page does not publish a later international application deadline; domestic and international fall applicants see the same March 1 close.

Current requirements
Early admission on four courses
UCalgary can extend early admission using four approved courses, calculated from Grade 11 (20-level) grades or 30-level grades where available. Admitted students must maintain the admission average required in the year of application, graduate, and complete all 30-level course requirements.

Current requirements
Schulich engineering course pattern
Engineering requires English Language Arts 30-1, Mathematics 30-1, Mathematics 31, Chemistry 30, and Physics 30 (Alberta pattern). A biology-based route substitutes Biology 30 for Physics 30 with conditional acceptance tied to completing the Summer Bioengineering Institute.

Effective Fall 2026
Nursing threshold-plus-lottery selection
From Fall 2026, main-campus BScN applicants who reach an 82% incoming average enter a lottery rather than competing on average alone. The change does not affect the Medicine Hat College, Indigenous Community, or Rural Community routes.
Meeting the 82% threshold makes an applicant lottery-eligible; it does not guarantee selection.

English-language minimums
General undergraduate minimums: TOEFL iBT 86, IELTS Academic 6.5, Duolingo 120, PTE Academic 60, CAEL 70, Cambridge 180. Nursing requires IELTS 7.0 with no band below 7.0 (TOEFL 92 with 23 per section, Duolingo 130, PTE 65, Cambridge 185); Education is higher again at IELTS 8.0 and TOEFL 108. Approved prior study in English can replace a test.

Requirements by competitive route
| Route | Required preparation | Selection | Planning note |
|---|---|---|---|
| General undergraduate pattern | An Alberta high-school diploma or equivalent plus five approved Grade 12-level courses | The required subjects and competitive average depend on the selected program. | Applicants outside Alberta should use UCalgary's live province or curriculum selector before choosing courses. |
| Schulich School of Engineering — regular route | English Language Arts 30-1, Mathematics 30-1, Mathematics 31, Chemistry 30, and Physics 30 | Students enter a common first year before choosing an engineering major. | Completing all 10 technical common-core courses in first year guarantees first choice of major; confirm curriculum equivalents if your school does not use Alberta course names. |
| Schulich School of Engineering — biology-based route | English Language Arts 30-1, Mathematics 30-1, Mathematics 31, Chemistry 30, and Biology 30 | Admission is conditional on successfully completing the Summer Bioengineering Institute before the fall term. | This is a distinct published pathway, not an unconditional Biology-for-Physics substitution. Verify the institute condition and curriculum equivalents in the live calendar. |
| Haskayne School of Business | English Language Arts 30-1, Mathematics 30-1, two approved academic courses, and one approved course or option | Admission is competitive and the live admissions tool supplies the current average guidance. | Keep both mathematics and English in the five-course calculation. |
| Bachelor of Health Sciences | English Language Arts 30-1, Mathematics 30-1 with at least 70%, Biology 30, Chemistry 30, and one approved course | A supplementary application is also required. | Track the supplementary deadline separately from the main application and document dates. |
| Bachelor of Science in Nursing | English Language Arts 30-1, Mathematics 30-1 or 30-2, Biology 30, Chemistry 30 or Science 30, and one approved course | From Fall 2026, main-campus applicants who reach the 82% incoming-average threshold enter the nursing admissions lottery. | Meeting the 82% threshold makes an applicant lottery-eligible; it does not guarantee selection, and other BScN routes select differently. |

| November 1 | Residence application opens | Applying early keeps the May 1 residence-guarantee checkpoint comfortable. |
| December 1 | Prestige Award application deadline | Required award documents follow by December 15. |
| March 1 | Fall application deadline (all applicants) | The current dates page lists one deadline for domestic and international fall applicants; the Bachelor of Health Sciences supplement is also due. |
| March 15 | Fall applicant document deadline | Creative-program requirements can have earlier March dates. |
| May 1 | Acceptance deadline and residence-guarantee checkpoint | Offers received April 1 or prior must be accepted by May 1; later offers allow 30 days. Residence applications submitted by May 1 are guaranteed a spot. |
| June 30 | High-school course completion deadline | Grade 12 courses must normally be complete by this date. |
| August 1 | Final official high-school transcript deadline | Late documents put a conditional offer at risk—order them early. |
