Schulich BBA supplementary application 2027: the Leadership Profile, Kira video interview, timed writing and both deadlines

Every Schulich BBA applicant must complete a supplementary application. After you apply on OUAC (code YBA), Schulich emails you an invitation to Kira Talent. You upload a Leadership Profile first. It lists 3 to 5 experiences, each with a reference. Then you do video interviews and a timed writing exercise. It costs $50. For Fall 2027, the regular deadline is February 1, 2027. For optional Early Consideration, apply on OUAC by November 6, 2026 and finish the supplement by November 23, 2026.

Why the supplement matters as much as your grades

Schulich says BBA admission rests on two equally weighted parts: your academic performance and your supplementary application. Its FAQ says strong grades will not make up for a weak supplement, and a strong supplement will not make up for weak grades. You need both.

Schulich says the supplement helps its team understand the complete student. It is looking for students who show leadership potential, integrity, resourcefulness, resilience and an understanding of collaboration. Schulich does not publish a scoring rubric or point values for the supplement.

For course requirements, past cutoffs, tuition and the program itself, see our Schulich BBA admission requirements page and the Schulich BBA pathway.

How you get the invitation

You don't find the supplement on MyFile. After you apply to the Schulich BBA on OUAC with code YBA, Schulich emails you an invitation with a link. The email comes from no-reply@kiratalent.com, so check your junk and spam folders. Make sure you chose YBA. York's BCom is a different program.

Schulich's supplementary page says that if you applied on OUAC on or before October 10, 2026, your invitation should arrive by the end of October 16, 2026. If you apply later, allow up to 10 business days. York's offices close for the winter holidays. If you apply between December 21, 2026 and January 11, 2027, your invitation will be sent after January 11.

You also need your 9-digit York Student ID Number to register. The supplementary page says York emails it within 7 to 10 business days of your OUAC application. The FAQ says 3 to 5 business days. If it has been more than 10 business days and you have no invitation, email admissions@schulich.yorku.ca.

The Fall 2027 Leadership Profile

The Leadership Profile is a Word template that Schulich posts for each cycle. You must use the Fall 2027 version. Schulich says earlier versions will not be accepted, even if you used one before.

This year the profile is a list, not an essay. You list at least 3 and at most 5 experiences from high school. For each one you give the experience name, your role, the organization, school or group, and a referee. Schulich's template says you are not required to write an essay, give a description or explain your experiences. It says your growth and what you learned will be discussed in the video interview instead.

Schulich's examples include student leadership, clubs or councils, volunteer work, sports or competitions, paid jobs or businesses you started, conferences or leadership programs, and personal projects that showed resilience. A profile with fewer than 3 experiences will not be evaluated.

Do not change the template's format. Save it with your full name and York Student ID Number as the file name. Schulich says incorrect or incomplete uploads, including the wrong file, may remove you from consideration.

References

Each experience needs one referee who can verify that you took part. The template asks for the person's name and role, an email address (required) and a phone number (optional). Schulich says profiles with missing or incomplete references will not be evaluated.

You don't send reference letters. Schulich's FAQ says there is no need to send letters of reference or recommendation with the supplement. Ask each person before you list them, and check that their email is correct.

Video interviews and timed writing

After the profile is uploaded, you move on to video interviews and a timed writing exercise on Kira Talent. You must upload a finished profile first. Schulich says not to upload an unfinished file to hold your spot, because you can't return and replace it once you move on.

Schulich's template says the video interview will ask about the experiences in your Leadership Profile. It says reviewers want to understand how you have grown, what you learned about yourself and others, and how you will add to the Schulich classroom and community.

Schulich's pages do not publish the number of video questions, the preparation or answer times, or the length of the timed writing exercise. Check the instructions inside Kira before you start. For how Kira works in general, see our Kira Talent video interview guide.

Early Consideration or regular deadline

There are two timelines for Fall 2027. For Early Consideration, you apply on OUAC by November 6, 2026 and submit the supplement by November 23, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time. For regular consideration, you apply on OUAC by January 15, 2027 and submit the supplement by February 1, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time. February 1 is the supplement deadline for everyone.

Early Consideration is optional. Schulich says you are not at a disadvantage if you use the regular dates. It changes when your file may first be reviewed, not how it is judged. Schulich also says it only makes decisions once it has enough Grade 12 information.

York's deadlines page says Schulich will not accept BBA applications after January 15, even though many other York programs take later applications from students outside Ontario. Compare other dates on our Ontario university application deadlines page.

When the supplement opens: Schulich's pages disagree

Schulich's BBA requirements page says you will get an invitation after the supplement opens in November 2026. Its admissions FAQ says the supplement can't be accessed until after October 15, 2026, which it calls the opening date for Fall 2027. The supplementary application page says students who applied by October 10 should get their invitation by the end of October 16, 2026, which fits the October date.

Don't wait for November. Apply on OUAC early and watch your email from mid-October. If the invitation does not arrive in the time Schulich gives, contact admissions@schulich.yorku.ca.

After you submit and when offers come

You get a confirmation email when you submit. MyFile can take 7 to 10 business days to change your supplement to 'Received', and the FAQ says this delay will not slow your review.

Schulich starts assessing files after the supplement deadline. Eligible Early Consideration applicants may get offers between December 2026 and January 2027. Regular offers go out on a rolling basis from March to the end of May 2027. If you applied early and don't get an early offer, your file stays in the regular cycle, and Schulich says that is not a rejection. See our guide to when Ontario university offers come out.

Rules on honesty, outside help and AI

The Schulich pages we read on October 8, 2026 do not include a rule that names AI tools or outside help for the supplement. Schulich does ask you to complete every section of the Leadership Profile clearly and accurately, and every experience must have a referee who can verify it. The video interview then asks you to talk about those experiences yourself.

Your profile, video answers and timed writing should be your own. If you are unsure whether a tool or kind of help is allowed, ask Schulich at admissions@schulich.yorku.ca before you use it.

BBA or iBBA?

Schulich's Fall 2027 admission pages describe one direct-entry application, the BBA, with OUAC code YBA. They don't describe a separate iBBA application or supplement. The BBA offers eleven specializations from third year, including Global Business, and exchange with 66 business schools in 32 countries. If you were told about an iBBA, confirm the current option with Schulich before you apply.
