York Student Portals: MyFile, Passport York, REM and eClass
As an applicant, you use MyFile to check your status, accept your offer, apply for residence and find out how and when you can enrol. Once you've accepted, you create a Passport York account, which is the login for almost everything else. You enrol in courses in the Registration and Enrolment Module (REM), take them in eClass and prove who you are at exams with your YU-card.

Which York system does what
York's systems overlap in name but not in job. Use the table to find the right one, then sign in with the login it asks for.

| Current Students site (students.yorku.ca) | Links to REM, the Degree Progress Report, the Academic Calendar and fees | Passport York for the linked tools |
| eClass | Course pages, materials and course activity | Passport York |
| York email | Official York email at username@my.yorku.ca for undergraduates | Passport York; created when you activate it |

Set up Passport York first
Every new York student has to create a Passport York account. York describes two routes on two pages. York IT tells new students to log in to Manage My Services with their student number as the username and their date of birth, in YYYYMMDD format, as the password, then change the password. The Registrar's page describes a New Student Sign Up link where you enter your student number and date of birth and choose your own username and password. Follow whichever prompt appears when you first sign in.
You'll be asked to set up Duo two-factor authentication soon after your first login. Activating Passport York also creates your York Google account, with an email address ending in @my.yorku.ca.
How first-year course enrolment works
York's YU START program walks new undergraduates through five steps: prepare to enrol, enrol in courses, get your YU-card, get ready for Orientation and use the Start Strong site. The enrolment step happens in REM.
If you start in September, your campus, Faculty and program decide your enrolment path. It's either self-led online enrolment or an enrolment appointment where you're told which courses to take. My Course Enrolment Details shows your path. It's open to new students from April to September, after you follow the "find out how and when I can enrol" steps in MyFile for your accepted program. Winter and Summer starters book an enrolment appointment through MyFile.
- Plan first. Read your program requirements in the Undergraduate Calendar, look up courses and catalogue numbers on the Course Timetables site and draft options in the Visual Schedule Builder.
- International students must pay York's non-refundable $2,000 acceptance deposit before they can enrol in courses.
- Domestic students pay a non-refundable $300 registration deposit soon after enrolling.
- Financial holds and advising blocks must be cleared before your enrolment access time, or REM won't let you in.
- York assigns enrolment access dates and times, and they can't be changed.
2026-27 add, drop and payment deadlines
The "last date to add" is the last day you can add a course freely in REM. After it, you need permission from the professor or department. Dropping by the drop deadline leaves no grade on your transcript. Withdrawing after that leaves a W, which doesn't affect your grade point average.

Fees and your YU-card
You see charges in My Student Account. For full-year enrolment, 50% of tuition is due by September 10 and 50% by January 10. Fall-only courses are due September 10 and Winter-only courses January 10.
Get your YU-card as soon as you've enrolled. You apply by uploading a photo that meets York's criteria, and the card goes in your phone's digital wallet. York only issues physical cards as an accommodation. The YU-card is the only ID York accepts at exams, and a driver's licence or passport won't get you in.
