York Campuses: Keele, Glendon & Markham
Start with the campus named for your program. Keele has York's broadest range of faculties and facilities, Glendon centres language-rich liberal arts and science study in a smaller setting, and Markham offers a narrower set of career-focused programs in small classes. Campus preference cannot substitute for checking the actual program location and curriculum on your offer.

The campus decision in one table
The three campuses are parts of York University, but they do not offer interchangeable undergraduate inventories. Use the table to identify the likely fit, then confirm the campus on the current program page before applying or accepting an offer.

Let program location make the first cut
Keele is the default comparison point when you want breadth: York describes it as a large-scale campus with ten faculties and an extensive range of research, arts, technology and athletic facilities.
Glendon's distinctive choice is its language environment. Its international BA and BSc options add language study, internationally oriented courses and an exchange to the underlying BA or BSc. The bilingual option is direct entry; the trilingual option normally starts after one year of university study.
Markham's current undergraduate catalogue includes programs such as Communication, Social Media & Public Relations, Computer Science for Software Development, Creative Technologies, Digital Technologies, Entrepreneurship & Innovation and Sport Management. Its First Year Science Program is a transition pathway: students begin at Markham and continue the rest of the selected science degree at Keele after first year.
- Compare offers by exact degree and campus, not by the York name alone.
- Check whether your desired major, stream and required courses remain on one campus across all years.
- If cross-campus courses matter, build the shuttle reservation step and schedule variability into your timetable plan.
Treat the shuttle as scheduled transportation
York runs complimentary Keele-Glendon and Keele-Markham shuttle routes, but it does not operate shuttles to transit stations. Riders must be active York students, faculty or staff with a valid YU-card and must reserve a seat through York's mobile ordering system.
Reservations can be made up to five days ahead, with a maximum of ten shuttle rides in that period. Schedules change by term and can change for reading week or exams, so this guide does not promise a travel time. Check the live schedule before building back-to-back cross-campus classes.
Housing differs by campus
Keele and Glendon use York's undergraduate residence system. Markham housing needs a separate distinction: York says it partners with 4stay to provide a local option, while the units are in private apartment complexes. That is partner accommodation rather than the same university-owned residence model used for Keele and Glendon.
For 2026–27, York's occupancy agreement is binding among York University, 4stay and the student. It identifies the furnished units as off-campus housing in Gallery Square Condominiums at 38 Simcoe Promenade. Verify the agreement for your own academic year before signing because the parties, property and terms can change.
The Markham-Keele shuttle page currently includes a stop for residents at Markham Student Housing/4stay. Shuttle access still requires current York status, a valid YU-card and a reservation. Verify the current shuttle schedule before relying on the stop.
Questions to answer before you choose
A campus tour is useful only after you know which academic options you are comparing. Bring the offer or program page and test the parts of an ordinary week that will affect you.
- Is the full program based at this campus, or does it move campuses after first year?
- Do the language pathway and course requirements match how you want to study?
- Can your likely commute support early, late or back-to-back classes without relying on an unverified shuttle time?
- Is the housing university residence or partner accommodation, and whose agreement would you sign?
- Would the campus still fit if your preferred room, elective or shuttle departure is unavailable?
