Fall 2027 applicant guide

Queen's Health Sciences on-campus requirements

Fast answer: Ontario applicants need six eligible 4U or 4M courses, including ENG4U at 80% or higher, SBI4U, SCH4U, and either MHF4U or MCV4U. The on-campus QH application also requires Queen's Kira Talent supplement. The fully online BHSc does not use that same supplement.

On-campus versus fully online BHSc

These routes share a degree family, but their delivery, applicant context, costs, and supplementary-application requirements differ.

Ontario prerequisites for on-campus QH

Queen's current Ontario table requires the OSSD and six 4U or 4M courses. Only English carries a separately published course floor on that table; a minimum is not an admission guarantee.

The dates page controls this conflict

Queen's general supplementary-application FAQ still contains older 2024 deadline fragments. For Fall 2027, use the current undergraduate dates page: February 1 for the QH application and February 15 for the mandatory on-campus supplement. The applicant's SOLUS To-Do List controls individualized document requests.

Current Kira supplement format

Queen's publishes the format and rubric but not the randomized questions. Prepare for the process, test the platform, and keep every live response in the applicant's own voice.

Decide on curriculum fit, not a pre-med myth

Interdisciplinary health curriculum

The BHSc combines biomedical, physical, social, and population-health perspectives rather than functioning as one narrow biology degree.

Inquiry-based learning

The program emphasizes inquiry, evidence, communication, collaboration, and applying knowledge across health questions.

Degree planning

Queen's publishes a four-year 120-unit Honours route and a three-year 90-unit General route. Confirm the current academic calendar before choosing a plan.

Optional focus

Published learning tracks can help organize options, but a track is not a professional licence or a guaranteed graduate-school outcome.

Medicine boundary

Queen's BHSc can support many academic paths, but it is not a required pre-med credential and does not guarantee medical-school admission.

Compare McMaster BHSc

Requirements, selection, curriculum, supplement rules, and current publication status differ. Use the McMaster Health Sciences guide for a source-by-source comparison.

Build a broader shortlist

Compare degree structure, assessment, cost, professional-school prerequisites, and non-medical options in the Canadian health sciences and pre-med guide.

Choose the exact Queen's Health Sciences route

The on-campus QH pathway and fully online BHSc are not interchangeable application choices. The mandatory Kira supplement applies to on-campus Health Sciences; Queen's explicitly exempts the fully online program from that requirement.

Compare delivery, applicant category, tuition, academic calendar, campus experience, and future course needs before choosing a route.

Treat the 80% English grade as a prerequisite floor

ENG4U requires at least 80%. Queen's does not publish separate floors for the other listed QH prerequisites on the current Ontario page.

The university does not publish a guaranteed admission average for the program. Grades can determine whether supplementary information is reviewed, but the controlling level and available spaces vary by cycle.

Use the current Kira format and 2027 dates

The current format contains one written response and one video response. Queen's publishes the timing, word limit, randomization, practice, review, and support process but does not release live questions in advance.

The current dates page controls Fall 2027. The general FAQ still contains 2024 deadline fragments, so those older lines must not be reused as current dates.

Understand the degree before treating it as pre-med

Queen's describes an interdisciplinary Health Sciences curriculum with inquiry-based learning and optional areas of focus. Read the live course requirements and assessment model before deciding that the label fits your learning style.

The BHSc is not required for medicine and does not guarantee medical-school admission. Plan each future medical school's prerequisites separately and keep credible academic and career alternatives.

Compare Queen's and McMaster on evidence

Queen's and McMaster use different prerequisites, supplements, curricula, dates, costs, and applicant systems. Compare the current official pages row by row instead of using reputation or an unofficial acceptance-rate estimate.
