Queen's residence fees for 2026–2027

The totals below were re-verified against the live fee schedule on August 14, 2026. Recheck the official fee schedule before paying because later academic years can change.
| Room type | Room and meal plan | 2026–2027 total |

The remaining fall balance is due September 1, 2026 and the winter balance January 10, 2027. Eligible government-aid recipients receive Queen's published automatic grace periods while their funding arrives.
Is first-year residence guaranteed at Queen's?
For Fall 2026, Queen's guaranteed a residence space to students who received an admission offer on or before April 15. International and Indigenous students were listed with a May 31 offer-date condition in the Residence Commitment section.
To keep the guarantee, a student also had to complete the Housing & Ancillary Services Portal application. Queen's had to receive the $805 deposit by June 1 at 4 pm ET, and the academic offer had to be accepted by its stated deadline.
A later offer without a residence guarantee did not prevent an application. On-time applicants entered a space lottery, and students who were not placed moved to the waitlist. Queen's has not published the equivalent Fall 2027 offer-date and application conditions yet, so applicants should not reuse the 2026 dates.
First-year residence guarantee criteria
Official-source conflict · Fall 2026 latest available
For Fall 2026, the page's Residence Commitment section used April 15, 2026 for most students and May 31, 2026 for international and Indigenous students. Its FAQ instead used May 30, 2026 for the latter groups. The application and $805 deposit were due June 1, 2026 at 4 pm ET. Students with later offers could still apply and entered a lottery if demand exceeded spaces.
The same official page conflicts on May 31 versus May 30. The individual offer letter controls eligibility; Fall 2027 conditions are not yet published.

Not yet published. The residence pages still describe a June 1, 2026 application and deposit deadline. The current contract runs from September 5, 2026 through the day after the student's final April 2027 exam. No 2027–2028 guarantee conditions, deadlines, or fees have been posted.

Queen's residence buildings and room types
The six configurations are Single, Single Plus, Double, Loft Double, Triple, and Quad. Washrooms can be private, semi-private between two Single Plus rooms, single-user facilities shared by a floor, or communal facilities. A guarantee covers a bed space; the building, room, and washroom available at selection depend on the student's time and remaining inventory.
Compare building pages rather than assuming that every room with the same name has the same layout. Queen's publishes first-year bed counts, room and washroom styles, laundry, front-desk service, photos, 3D tours, floor plans, and location details for each building.
Main Campus or West Campus: compare the daily routine
Building and TAM details reviewed September 11, 2026
Queen's has residences on both campuses. The two examples below show why the building and its location matter; they do not describe every Main or West Campus residence. Before self-selection, map the route from each shortlisted building to likely classes, dining, libraries, supports, and evening activities, then compare that route with your expected timetable.
| Building | Rooms and washrooms | Daily-use details |
|---|---|---|
| Victoria HallMain Campus · 824 residents | Single, Double, Loft Double, Triple, and Quad rooms. Queen's lists single-user private washrooms. | Four passenger elevators, kitchenettes, laundry, common rooms, and the Lazy Scholar in the building. Leonard and Ban Righ dining halls are nearby. |
| Jean Royce HallWest Campus · 605 residents | Single and Double rooms in 12 named houses, with communal washrooms as the listed style. Access is by stairs. | Jean Royce Dining Hall, a nearby bus stop, laundry, and a 24-hour front desk. Indoor access to the dining hall and Education Library applies to Phase 1 houses only. |
Jean Royce Phase 1 and Phase 2 should not be treated as the same indoor-access experience. Check the house, phase, and official floor plan before selecting. Queen's also warns that its photos and 3D tours are samples; the size and appearance of a specific room can vary.
Questions for your shortlist
- Where are your likely first-year classes and regular meals?
- Does the exact house, floor, room, and washroom arrangement fit your routine and accessibility needs?
- Does the building page list elevators or stair access, and what does it tell you to pack for internet access?
- Have you opened the official floor plan, photos, and 3D tours for each backup choice?
Gordon Brockington House at Queen's
Gordon Brockington House has 408 residents on six floors on main campus. It offers Single, Double, Loft Double, Triple, and Quad rooms, primarily with communal washrooms. Queen's lists Leonard Dining Hall, the Kingston waterfront, laundry, wired internet, and nearby residences and classrooms among its current features.
How Queen's residence self-selection works
Queen's assigns each student a self-selection date and time by lottery. Earlier times normally see more buildings and room types. Students can filter available spaces by building, room type, and attributes, then choose a floor and room. Clicking “Finalize Selection” locks the choice.
For Fall 2026, first-year time slots were emailed during the week of July 6. Living Learning and Unique Communities selected July 13–14, approved accommodations July 15–16, and general selection ran July 22–24. Those dates have passed and are not Fall 2027 dates. Prepare a ranked list instead of relying on one preferred building.

Queen's residence meal plan
The 2026–2027 Residence Weekly 19 Meal Plan is included in residence fees. It provides 19 dining-hall meals per week, up to 175 Trade a Meals over the academic year, five $5 guest passes, and $145 Flex. Weekly meals reset each Monday, and unused meals and TAMs do not carry over or receive a refund.
A Trade a Meal, or TAM, is not an extra meal. It exchanges one of the weekly 19 dining-hall swipes for an eligible combo at a participating retail location. Queen's deducts a redeemed TAM from both the weekly meal allowance and the TAM balance, and allows up to two TAM swipes per day. Use Flex, debit, or credit for an additional item that is not included in the combo; offerings can change.
Queen's residence move-in 2026
The main move-in day is September 5, 2026, with assigned two-hour arrival windows. A limited paid early move-in is scheduled after 5 pm on September 4. Queen's sends a building-specific zone card and route because campus road directions change for move-in; use that card instead of a navigation app.
