McGill Medicine admission requirements for Fall 2027
McGill Medicine doesn't require the MCAT for Fall 2027, including degrees earned outside Canada. The usual MDCM route needs a bachelor's degree and science prerequisites. Montreal requires French B2; Outaouais requires C1. Quebec CEGEP applicants use the separate Med-P route. Your residency category changes the academic guidance and available places.

Start with the degree route, not a pre-med label
If you are in Ontario Grade 12, medicine at McGill normally comes after a bachelor's degree. The degree can be in any discipline. McGill encourages a broad education and does not require a named pre-med major. Choose a degree you want to study. Then check that its timetable leaves room for the required sciences and labs.
The usual degree is a recognized four-year or 120-credit bachelor's. A qualifying pre-university DEC can allow a 90-credit Quebec university degree. You must finish the degree by July 31 of the entry year. The school must also have granted it by then. You normally need 60 consecutive graded credits when you apply. Separate second-degree and Winter 2020 rules exist; use the detailed degree page if either applies.
A McGill Science application and an MDCM application are separate decisions. Being a McGill undergraduate does not reserve a medicine place. The Canadian pre-med guide compares undergraduate planning across schools. Keep another degree or career plan that you would be willing to pursue.

The MCAT rule includes degrees earned abroad
McGill's current MCAT page says no candidate applying to undergraduate medicine requires that test. The change has included bachelor's degrees completed outside Canada since the 2024 admission cycle. There is no place to submit a score in the MDCM application, and McGill says it will not consider one. A strong score does not replace another required part of the file.
Older McGill handouts can still contain a different rule for foreign degrees. Read the current medical admissions page rather than planning around a saved historical document. This rule belongs to McGill. Another Canadian medical school can still require the MCAT, so check every school separately before deciding whether to take it for your wider application list.

Treat GPA guidance as category-specific
For the Canadian non-Quebec category, McGill calls a degree GPA of at least 3.7 competitive. It says a GPA below 3.5 is considered only in exceptional cases. The Quebec university category gives different guidance: at least 3.5, with below 3.2 considered only in exceptional circumstances. These are not two interchangeable university-wide minimums or guaranteed offer thresholds.
The Fall 2026 figures show why the label matters. Interviewed Canadian non-Quebec candidates had an average GPA of 3.98. Interviewed Quebec university candidates averaged 3.93. An interview-group mean is not the lowest admitted GPA, and it is not a forecast for Fall 2027. Don't subtract your GPA from a mean to calculate a chance of admission.
McGill assesses the degree used as the basis of admission. It also reviews your study context. Its checklist requires true records. You cannot choose only your strongest terms. Before applying, compare your transcript with the degree rules and the correct applicant category. If your record includes another degree or an unusual study pattern, ask admissions how its published rules apply.

Plan seven science courses with their labs
The university MDCM route requires two biology courses, two general chemistry courses, two physics courses and one organic chemistry course. The list represents at least 21 credits and includes laboratory work. A course cannot fill two requirements. Course titles alone may hide missing labs, so compare content and credit rather than assuming that any introductory science class will count.
At least four of the seven courses need official grades by November 1. This is the application deadline. Up to three can remain in progress. Send proof of enrolment in January and grades by May 31 before entry. All required courses must eventually meet the stated grade rule. An offer remains conditional on completing the outstanding work.
At CEGEP level, the published floor is 60%. University courses must meet the university's graduation-grade rule, generally C or better. Other credentials have their own equivalencies. McGill has removed the prerequisite expiry rule; don't copy an old course-age limit. A separately reused science GPA is no longer part of selection, though sciences within your admission degree still affect its GPA.
Check residency before comparing places
Canadian citizenship or permanent residence does not automatically make you a Quebec applicant. McGill has a specific Quebec residency rule for admission. Proof is due by the application deadline. Its Canadian non-Quebec category also covers specified refugee and protected-person statuses. Read the status instructions for your own documents rather than choosing a category only because you currently live in Montreal.
The non-Quebec page anticipates up to five places for Fall 2027. That is a capacity statement, not an acceptance rate. Quebec residency for medical admission and residency for tuition are assessed at different stages. Moving after the application deadline does not let you rewrite the admission category. Resolve an unclear case with McGill before you commit to an application or a move.

French is required at both campuses
Montreal's medical instruction is in English, but admission still requires French at B2. Campus Outaouais teaches in French and requires C1. Only Quebec residents can apply to Outaouais. Eligible interviewed Quebec candidates rank the campuses. These choices are binding. An offer names the campus. Don't treat the locations as an unrestricted transfer option after admission.
McGill lists exemptions from a separate French test. One exemption covers both high school and CEGEP in Quebec. Another requires three years of full-time secondary or postsecondary study in French. A French Casper score used by McGill for medicine admission is another route. If you take both languages, choose which result goes to McGill when you register. You cannot change that choice after seeing your quartile results. Taking French Casper alone isn't enough if McGill uses your English result. Proof of the exemption still has to be uploaded. French immersion outside Quebec does not qualify under the full-time French-instruction exemption. Check the exact test modules and validity period if you need a test.
Clinical work involves francophone patients even when classroom teaching is in English. Assess your ability to use French in practice as well as your certificate. English proof can also be required for candidates educated exclusively outside Canada in non-English-speaking countries. The admissions language page explains who must submit it. A general McGill undergraduate English exemption is not a substitute for reading medicine's own instructions.

Med-P has its own CEGEP eligibility rules
Med-P is a qualifying year before the four-year MDCM. Its category requires Canadian citizenship or permanent residence and Quebec residency. You need an eligible Quebec DEC or the specified Quebec French Baccalaureate alternative. The alternative is limited to Collège International Marie-de-France and Collège Stanislas. Both Première and Terminale must be completed in Quebec. Required Quebec competencies and an R-score also apply. It is not an ordinary Ontario Grade 12 route. Check the detailed program list and subject codes.
The Med-P category calls an R-score above 34 competitive and says below 33 is considered only in exceptional circumstances. That guidance has no named cohort. The separate Fall 2026 statistics show a 37.03 interview-group average, a different measure and period. Neither figure guarantees a Fall 2027 place. Use the category guidance and your complete eligibility record together.
Gap-year cases need care. The detailed page allows some DEC graduates who took a gap year. They must never have enrolled in a full-time university program or applied to Med-P before. The limit is 12 university credits in total. An Extenuating Circumstances letter and proof are required. A separate exception covers some Fall DEC graduates who start another program the next winter. The broad FAQ still describes immediate graduates. The detailed page also governs DEC completion timing and exceptions. Ask admissions to confirm your case if you have taken a gap year or started university; don't assume the new exception covers everyone.

Complete Casper before the separate application deadline
McGill set its last accepted MDCM Casper dates for Fall 2027 before the November 1 application deadline: October 15, 2026 for the English test and October 22, 2026 for the French test. Med-P's last accepted English and French dates are February 18, 2027. Check the medicine test type. Make sure McGill will receive the result. A test for another program or a previous cycle is not automatically valid.
Only Casper is required; McGill does not use Snapshot or Duet for these routes. Register early enough for identity and payment checks. If you missed a required test, contact admissions before paying for an application on the assumption that November 1 provides a later opportunity. Choosing French also requires that you can complete the assessment in that language; it is not a way to bypass preparation.
McGill receives Casper scores about three weeks after testing. Its instructions say a file missing only Casper scores is not cancelled if you completed the test before the application deadline. The file stays at Items outstanding until delivery. You must still use an accepted test date and arrange distribution. This exception does not extend other document deadlines.

Build the right document checklist
Ordinary university MDCM applicants need the academic history workbook and transcripts. They also need the McGill CV with verifiers and other required proof. Declare all postsecondary study, including exchanges. Follow the translation instructions for records in another language. Med-P does not require the academic workbook. The checklist changes again for international medical graduates and the joint MD-PhD. Use your own column.
Use the required CV template and verifiers who can confirm the activities you list. Ordinary MDCM and Med-P reference letters are not considered. The MD-PhD route needs separate research references. Don't ask relatives or alumni to send unsolicited support. Keep authorship and test-integrity rules intact. Your application should be a true record you can explain at interview. Apply and pay before the deadline date. McGill says the ID needed for the workbook takes 24 hours to arrive.

Keep official differences and future costs visible
The category pages anticipate 142 Quebec university places and 91 Med-P places for Fall 2027. The general summary instead shows approximately 146 and 92. The figures don't match. The main key-dates and interview pages say interviews are virtual, while the Med-P category still says attendance in person is mandatory. Follow the invitation and ask admissions about the conflict before arranging travel.
Fall 2027 tuition totals are not published yet; McGill's fee calculator stops at Fall 2026 and Winter 2027. Med-P pays first-year BSc fees rather than ordinary MDCM fees. MDCM entrance-merit review is automatic. Need-based aid has a separate process. Since Fall 2026, Med-P is excluded from the centralized entrance and major entrance scholarship programs; need-based support remains a separate option.
Look for 2027-28 prices and dated funding instructions in early 2027, and check them again before paying. The aid page's older cycle banner and its June 1 award date, which names no year, don't confirm new-cycle deadlines. Use the McGill fee guide for residency context and the medicine faculty's sources below for the actual program. Check your own fee assessment and offer conditions.
