MUN Gym: The Works Field House, Hours and Student Access
The Works runs Memorial University's recreation facilities in St. John's, including the Field House and the Aquarena. Students on the St. John's campus normally pay a recreation fee of $73.98 a semester in tuition, which gives free access to the Field House, its 200 m indoor track, courts, fitness classes and MUN pool lane swims. From September 6, 2026, the Field House is open 5:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday.

Check and use your student access
- Check your account summary in Student Self-Service at my.mun.ca. If "Student Recreation Fee" is listed for the term, you have access.
- If it isn't there, you can opt in through the Cashier's Office.
- Access switches on automatically each semester: fall runs September 1 to December 31 and winter January 1 to April 30.
- You need a MUN Campus Card. Request it online in my.mun.ca under the Students tab, then Request a Card.
- Show your student ID at the Field House desk to get a wristband. Without photo ID you won't get in.

- Basketball, pickleball, volleyball, badminton and table tennis.
- Fitness classes, including spin and water fitness, and fitness studios.
