Memorial University Residences: 2026-27 Fees Compared
Memorial University (MUN) has three residence communities for undergraduates on its St. John's campus. Paton College is the traditional hall best suited to first-year students, Macpherson College has suites for more independent students, and Burton's Pond has apartments for upper-year students. Fees include a required meal plan at Paton and Macpherson. A Paton double costs $5,237 for fall 2026 and $5,357 for winter 2027.

Fall 2026 and winter 2027 fees
Fees cover utilities, furniture, Wi-Fi and 24/7 security. MUN says the meal plan part of the Paton and Macpherson fees is updated each spring. Fees are posted to your student account 2 to 3 weeks before each semester.

Which community suits you
- Paton College: nine hall-style buildings of about 100 students each, around a courtyard beside Gushue Hall, the dining hall. Rebuilt and renovated in 2015. Single rooms usually go to returning students, and most buildings have a quiet fourth floor.
- Macpherson College: two wings, Cluett Hall and Shiwak Hall, with 250 students each. Two private bedrooms share a washroom, and each floor has a lounge and study space. Recommended for independent or second-year students.
- Burton's Pond Apartments: five courts of about 32 apartments each. Each student gets a bedroom and a study room and shares a kitchen, living room and washroom. Best suited to second-year students and up.
How to apply
- Get your provisional (early) acceptance or admission decision, then activate your MUN Login.
- Complete the residence application and pay the $40 application fee for each semester. It isn't refundable.
- Choose your building and room, then pay the $500 confirmation fee, which is credited to your residence fees.
- Application and confirmation fees are paid by Visa or Mastercard only.
- When checked, Paton College was accepting new applications, and Macpherson College and Burton's Pond had closed with full waitlists.
Cancelling
Fall 2026 check-in was September 6. Applications for winter and fall 2027 opened September 1, 2026, and room selection for new winter 2027 students runs from November 9.
