The average you need
UPEI asks for an overall average of at least 70% in the five required subjects (75% for Quebec Secondary V students). UPEI does not publish the average of students it admitted to the BBA, so treat 70% as the floor.
You can get an early offer. UPEI says Grade 11 students with a 75% average in their academic subjects can receive an offer before Grade 12. If you do, you must send an updated transcript before March 1 of Grade 12 for scholarship review.
Your admission average also sets your guaranteed scholarship. Work out your best five with our Top 6 average calculator.

The BBA admission rules list courses and an average only. There is no supplementary application, essay, interview or portfolio. You apply on UPEI's own application portal and pay an application fee.
Some named scholarships are different. UPEI says separate award applications may ask for personal statements or reference letters.

What first year looks like
The BBA is 120 semester hours over four years. UPEI's recommended course list starts with these, which are part of the 23 required courses.
You also take 17 electives. You need at least 60% in 14 of the 18 required business courses to graduate. UPEI lists seven specializations, including accounting, entrepreneurship, finance, international business, marketing and organizational management. Each needs a 70% average in its courses.
Two specializations stand out. Accounting is meant for students who want the CPA designation after graduating. International business includes an approved international exchange term or international co-op work term. UPEI BBA students can also take Holland College's Human Resource Management certificate alongside the degree, usually in third year, and receive up to 12 semester hours of business elective credit for it.
- Accounting 1010 Introduction to Financial Accounting
- Business 1410 Marketing and Business 1710 Organizational Behaviour
- Economics 1010 Introductory Microeconomics and Economics 1020 Introductory Macroeconomics
- Math 1110 Finite Mathematics
- English 1010 Academic Writing
- IKE 1040 Indigenous Teachings of Turtle Island
Co-op is optional
UPEI's co-op is open to full-time students in any business specialization. You normally apply after first year and enter co-op in the fall of second year. You then complete three full-time, paid work terms of 14 to 16 weeks before graduating.
Each work term with its career skills modules earns three semester hours of credit. Co-op has its own fees: for 2026-27, UPEI lists $813 per course or work-term registration and a $778 acceptance fee.
Students who finish every co-op requirement get the co-op notation on their transcript and graduation parchment. At least one work term must fall in a fall or winter term.

Tuition for 2026-27
UPEI's fees page says its figures are approved for the 2026-2027 academic year. For full-time Canadian business students, tuition is $8,130 per year, or $4,065 per semester, which is $813.00 per 3 credit course.
Fees include a $200 business student service fee, a $107 technology fee, a $294 fitness and recreation fee, a $96 library fee and student union fees, including health and dental insurance you can opt out of with proof of other coverage.
Our estimate, not a UPEI figure: tuition plus the listed mandatory, business and student union fees adds up to about $9,700, if you keep the health and dental plans. The selector doesn't say whether each fee is charged per year or per term, so confirm with UPEI. Residence, meals and books are extra.
