Trent First-Year Residences: Colleges, 2026-27 Fees, Guarantee

At Trent's Peterborough campus, each college has its own residence: Champlain, Gzowski, Lady Eaton, Otonabee and, at Traill College, Wallis Hall and Crawford House. There are also townhome-style Annexes and a residence at Trent Durham GTA. First-year students are guaranteed a bed if they apply and pay the $600 advance payment by the deadline, which was June 3 in 2026. Every room needs a dining plan. Room fees for 2026-27 run from $6,500 to $13,300.

Compare the room types and 2026-27 fees

Trent prices residence by room type, not by building. Every option includes furniture, Wi-Fi, free laundry, study spaces and lounges, and 24/7 security. Fees cover the 2026-27 academic year and are subject to Board approval.

  • Add the required dining plan: $6,570 for a traditional room or $4,600 for a suite in 2026-27.
  • Trent bills residence in two instalments, on the same dates as tuition.
  • Trent Durham GTA advertises the first month free, a $1,505 saving, for 2026-27, and parking at no extra cost.

The first-year guarantee

All incoming first-year and international undergraduates are guaranteed a bed if they submit the residence application and the $600 advance payment by the deadline. For 2026-27, that was 11:59 p.m. ET on June 3, 2026. Trent's application page still shows the 2026 dates, so check it for the 2027 deadline.

The guarantee is for a bed, not a building, college or room type. Applications aren't first come, first served. If you miss the deadline you can join the waiting list without paying the advance payment until a space is offered.

How to apply

Apply as soon as you apply to Trent; you don't need to wait for an offer. You must be registered in courses to live in residence.

  • Log in to MyTrent, open the Support tab, choose Student Housing and then the Student Housing Portal.
  • Complete the residence application.
  • Pay the $600 advance payment in the portal: $500 credited to your residence fees and a $100 non-refundable administration fee. It's separate from your tuition deposit.
  • If you need accommodations for medical, disability or religious reasons, submit the Accessibility and Unique Needs form. The 2026 deadline was June 5.

The lottery and choosing your room

Everyone who meets the guarantee deadline goes into a random lottery that gives each student a time slot. When your slot opens, you choose a bed in the Student Housing Portal from the spaces still available, in real time.

  • Roommate requests must be mutual and share the same gender preference: male, female or gender inclusive.
  • In a roommate group, the person with the earliest time slot picks the room and assigns beds.
  • Students who choose to stay over winter break must live in premium suites in the Champlain, Lady Eaton or Gzowski Annexes.
