Trent myTrent: Applicant vs Student Tasks
myTrent is the university portal used by applicants and students, but it does not replace the system used to submit an application. Applicants activate it after Trent sends an acknowledgement with a Trent Identification Number. They then use it for personalized document requirements, application status and admission letters. After admission, the same portal also becomes the entry point for email, registration, learning systems, academic records and the student account.

Match the task to the right system
Start with the applicant category and task, not the portal name. Ontario secondary-school applicants use OUAC. International applicants may use OUAC or Trent's direct application. Domestic college or university transfer applicants applying to multiple universities use OUAC, while those applying only to Trent may use Trent's direct application. Activate myTrent after Trent acknowledges the application and supplies the required ID.
| Task | System or route | Scope to check |
|---|---|---|
| Submit an undergraduate application | OUAC for Ontario secondary-school applicants; OUAC or Trent direct application for international and eligible domestic transfer applicants | Use the current route for your applicant group and number of university choices |
| Activate a Trent account | Activate Your Account from the public myTrent page | Use the Trent Identification Number in Trent's acknowledgement |
| See outstanding application items | Required Documents in myTrent | The list is personalized; compare it with your curriculum instructions |
| Send an undergraduate document | myTrent or the official alternative named for that curriculum | Some records may come from a school, testing body or Parchment |
| Check status and read admission letters | myTrent | An OUAC account may also show an offer when applicable |
| Respond to an undergraduate offer | OUAC if the application was through OUAC; email Trent Admissions if it was through Trent | Follow the response route and deadline in the offer instructions |
| Register for courses | myTrent Register tab and Self-Service | Use the live academic calendar and timetable first |
| Check charges and payments | Statement of Account in myTrent | Review it again after registration changes |
| Request an official Trent transcript | Transcript option in myTrent, followed by MyCreds | This is a student or former-student record task, not an application-document upload |
Activate myTrent from the acknowledgement
Use Trent's public myTrent page and choose Activate Your Account. Trent says applicants need the Trent Identification Number provided in the application acknowledgement email. Watch the email address used for the application and activate the account after Trent sends that acknowledgement; the public myTrent page does not give one undergraduate delivery time.
If the ID is missing, use Retrieve Your Student ID on the same page or contact Admissions. If the account already exists but the credentials fail, use Forgot your Username/Password. These routes separate an identification problem from a password problem before you contact technical support.
- Keep the acknowledgement email because it connects the submitted application to the Trent ID.
- Enter through trentu.ca/mytrent instead of saving a deep link to one internal tool.
- Do not send a password, reset answer or verification code when asking for help.
Treat Required Documents as a personalized checklist
For undergraduate applicants, open the Required Documents icon in myTrent to see what Trent still expects. The international deadlines page explicitly directs applicants there to confirm their personalized list. Then open the admission-requirements section for your educational background to verify the record, format and sender Trent accepts.
Do not assume that every transcript should be uploaded by the applicant. Trent's curriculum instructions vary. Ontario school grades may be sent by the school, while several international curricula allow a myTrent upload or an alternative school email or Parchment release. Some final results must come from an awarding body or become due after an offer.
A file submission and an official final record are different checkpoints. Keep your own list of the item name, permitted delivery route, date sent and current myTrent status. Use Trent's current deadline page for the intake because deadline tables can change by term and some programs close earlier.
Graduate applicants have a separate document route
Graduate applicants should follow the School of Graduate Studies instructions rather than the undergraduate checklist above. Trent places the Graduate Application Documents Upload link under myTrent's Academics and Admissions areas. The graduate page also tells applicants to track items through Required Documents.
Two current graduate pages publish different status-update windows: the application guide says to allow five business days, while the graduate FAQ says two to three working business days. Because those first-party instructions conflict, this guide does not promise an update time. Use the live graduate instructions and contact Graduate Admissions if an item remains unresolved.
Read the offer in myTrent, then use the stated response route
Trent's international offer page says the offer appears in myTrent and, where applicable, OUAC. It also says the Offer of Admission letter and Letter of Acceptance are emailed and posted in myTrent. Read the actual letters for conditions and response dates rather than relying on the status label alone.
The response route depends on how the application was filed. Trent's general accepted-student page directs OUAC applicants to accept through OUAC and applicants who applied through Trent to email Admissions with their Trent ID and accepted program. Use myTrent to review the decision and letters, then respond through the required route.
After admission, myTrent expands into the student workspace. Trent lists email, registration, learning systems and academic records among its student functions. The Registrar's current instructions place course planning and registration under Register, then Self-Service. A separate live international admissions page calls this the Academic Record tab, so use the Registrar route and follow the current portal navigation if the label changes. The live timetable remains the source for whether a course is offered and where it meets.
Route the problem to the office that owns it
Use Admissions for a missing Trent ID or an application-document question. Use the Registrar for registration or academic-record issues, and Student Accounts for charges, payments or account statements. For a technical access problem, Trent IT directs people with an active ID to the Service Hub. People without working Trent credentials can use the Visitor/Community Help Request Form.
When reporting a problem, name the task, page and visible error. Include your Trent ID only through an appropriate official channel and avoid sending sensitive login information. Trent's IT page also lists phone and campus support locations; check that live page for current hours before visiting.
- Missing ID: Retrieve Your Student ID or Admissions.
- Forgotten credentials: the reset route on the public myTrent page.
- Active account with a technical error: IT Service Hub.
- No usable credentials: IT Visitor/Community Help Request Form.
- Registration error or record question: Office of the Registrar.
