Trent Libraries: Bata Library Hours and Study Rooms

Trent has two libraries: Bata Library on the Symons Campus in Peterborough and the Durham Campus Library. In the first week of October 2026, Bata was open until 11 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and Durham until 7 p.m. on weekdays. You book group rooms for up to 3 hours a day, up to 30 days ahead, and one-person booths up to 4 days ahead. Check in within 15 minutes of your start time or the booking is cancelled.

  • Check in when you arrive, using the link in your confirmation email or the QR code in the room.
  • You have 15 minutes from your start time to check in, and you can't check in more than 5 minutes early. Miss the window and the room is released.
  • Three study booths are set aside for students registered with Student Accessibility Services, who can get the access code from SAS.
  • Book early around midterms and exams, when rooms fill quickly.

Quiet rooms, the Cedar Room and de-stress zones

  • Reading rooms have adjustable tables and plenty of outlets for long quiet sessions.
  • BL 202, the Elaine Stavro Room, is a large windowed room with tables and couches, good for quiet reading or group meetings, and can be reserved.
  • The Giizhigaatig (Cedar) Room in BL 410 overlooks the river and is a gathering and study space for Indigenous students. Contact First Peoples House of Learning at fphl@trentu.ca for access.
  • De-stress zones at both Bata and Durham have puzzles, beanbag chairs, Lego and other ways to take a break.
  • Graduate students have BL 408, a quiet room on the 4th floor, and can request lockable carrels.
