Carleton Meal Plans 2026-27: Teraanga Commons Dining Hall and Campus Plans

If you live in a traditional-style Carleton residence, you're enrolled in the All Access meal plan. It gives you unlimited entry to Teraanga Commons Dining Hall and $200 in Dining Dollars for the year. The plan is already built into your residence fee. Students living off campus can buy one of six campus plans, from the $500 RavensFlex to the $3,401 seven-day plan.

The three residence meal plans

Your building decides which plans you can have. All traditional-style residents get All Access. Suite-style residents, who are upper-year students, can choose the Reduced plan. Meal plans are optional only in Leeds House. Anyone in residence can upgrade to All Access Plus.

  • On the Reduced plan, your 10 meals reset every Monday morning and don't carry over.

Inside Teraanga Commons Dining Hall

The dining hall is on the third floor of Teraanga Commons, the building formerly called Residence Commons. It's open every day from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. It stays open during breaks such as Thanksgiving and reading week, so you can keep using your plan if you stay on campus.

Stations include Grill 42, Umami for ramen and sushi, Brees Inn Bakeshop and Café, the Innovation Test Kitchen, Training Table, The Greens salad bar, True Balance and The Deli. Residence meal plan holders can use lockers on the second floor of Teraanga Commons.

  • Walk-in prices switch to the next meal's price 15 minutes before each changeover.

Start dates and changing your plan

Plans start on September 4, 2026 at lunch for the fall term and January 5, 2027 at dinner for the winter term.

You can upgrade your plan at any time during a term. To move to a smaller plan, contact Housing and Residence Life Services by September 17, 2026 for the fall term or January 18, 2027 for the winter term.

Where Dining Dollars work

Dining Dollars sit on your Campus Card. You can spend them at most Dining Services locations, including the food court, Loeb Café, Starbucks, Subway, Booster Juice, Oasis and walk-in meals at the dining hall.

  • At Tim Hortons, you can only use Dining Dollars by ordering through the Hey Chef app.
  • They don't work in vending machines.
  • Quick Eats, on the first floor of Nideyinàn, is an autonomous store open 24 hours a day that takes the Campus Card, Visa and Mastercard.
  • The food court restaurants include Bento Sushi, Burger 101, Colonel By Chicken, La Cocina, Republic of Spice, The Kitchen Exchange, The Local Ottawa Shawarma Palace, The Market, Twisted Beet and Urban Deli.

Boxed meals, sick days and allergies

If you have a residence meal plan, you can order a boxed meal instead of eating in the hall. Order two calendar days before pickup, by 9 p.m. You can pick it up at the dining hall's front desk from 4:30 p.m. the day before until 10 p.m. on the pickup day. You can order one per meal period, and on the Reduced plan it counts as a swipe. If you're sick, your Residence Fellow or Residence Manager can arrange a sick chit so a friend can collect a meal for you.

Dining Services says it doesn't use peanuts or tree nuts in its recipes, but warns that cross-contamination is possible in its open kitchens. The True Balance station avoids 9 priority allergens. You can book the registered dietitian to plan safe meals. Residence students with celiac disease or gluten intolerance can ask the dietitian for access to a locked No-Gluten Pantry.

During Ramadan, you can order a halal Suhoor boxed meal at least 48 hours ahead.

2026-27 campus meal plans for students living off campus

Any student can buy a campus plan through the Campus Card online deposit system or at the Campus Card Office on the fourth floor of Nideyinàn. Carleton says you save up to 15% when you pay with Dining Dollars. The seven-day, five-day and Reduced plans expire at the end of each term, so check whether the listed price covers one term or both before you buy.
