Use Career Connect without assuming placement

Career Connect helps students and recent graduates find job and work-experience postings, prepare applications, receive alerts and find workshops or employer events. Your faculty or program manages placement requirements. Ask its placement team about eligibility, timing and the support available when searching for a position.

Verify the IS411 mandatory paid co-op boundary

For a current program-specific example, Humber FAST's October 2025 employer guidelines classify the Bachelor of Engineering in Information Systems Engineering as mandatory co-op. The guidelines say mandatory co-op must be paid by the employer through payroll and do not accept unpaid placements. This evidence establishes the program's co-op type and compensation boundary; it does not promise that a student will secure a position.

For FAST work experience, the student is responsible for finding a position; advisers provide support and job leads rather than assigning placements. Before work starts, the student submits an Experience Proposal for approval. The office reviews the duties and employment terms and notifies the student and employer after approval. Paid employment alone does not establish an approved academic placement.

The public employer guidelines give a general range of four, eight or twelve months depending on the program, without establishing IS411’s exact sequence. Confirm current work-term hours, academic eligibility, fees and international-student requirements with the placement team. Confirm another program's WIL type

Humber's program pages describe several forms of work-integrated learning, including field experience, practicum and co-op. The general descriptions do not establish which form is required for your program or cohort. Ask the program team about mandatory versus optional participation, selection, timing, fees and responsibility for finding a position before planning your course sequence.
