Queen's vs McMaster Health Sciences
Both programs want marks in the 90s and a supplement, so the choice comes down to how you learn and which courses you take. Queen's lists low 90s for Health Sciences last cycle. McMaster sets a 90% minimum and admits about 240 students a year. Queen's applications close February 1, 2027.

Two programs that look alike on paper
Both are direct-entry Bachelor of Health Sciences degrees. You apply from Grade 12, you write a supplement, and you start health courses in first year. Queen's says its degree is built for students who hope to become health professionals. McMaster says its graduates go on to a wide range of careers in health and beyond.
The difference shows up in how each one teaches. Queen's uses a flipped classroom. You work through online modules first, then apply the material in active class sessions. Queen's says its core courses are built around the skills professional schools look for.
McMaster is known for inquiry-based learning. You work in small groups to find and test information, and the program puts problem solving and communication at the centre. McMaster admits about 240 students a year and describes its classes as small. Ask yourself which of those styles you would enjoy for four years.

Grades: low 90s at Queen's, 90% minimum at McMaster
Queen's publishes a table of minimum averages for consideration from September of last year. Health Sciences was in the low 90s. Queen's says the figures change from year to year and could be higher than shown. Its program page also says the on-campus average is expected to be over 90%, while 75% is the floor to be considered at all.
McMaster states a 90% minimum average. It also says meeting the academic rules does not ensure admission. Its Level I page reports over 8,000 applicants a year for 240 spots. That compares applications with seats, so it is not an acceptance rate, and it does not tell you your own chance.
In practice, you need marks in the 90s for either program. At both schools your supplement score then decides a lot. Queen's says plainly that no one gets an offer on grades alone. Keep a strong backup program in the same field, such as life sciences or kinesiology, in case neither offer comes.

Courses: the math choice matters
Queen's asks for ENG4U with at least 80%, 4U biology, 4U chemistry and one of Advanced Functions or Calculus and Vectors. You add two more 4U or 4M courses. All prerequisites count in the average Queen's uses.
McMaster asks for 4U English, biology and chemistry. For math, it accepts Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors or Data Management. It also wants one course that is not math, science or technology, plus one more 4U or 4M course.
This is where students get caught. If your only Grade 12 math is Data Management, you meet McMaster's math rule but miss Queen's. If all six of your courses are math and science, you may miss McMaster's non-science rule. A timetable with Advanced Functions and one humanities or social science course keeps both open.

Two supplements with their own rules
Queen's runs its supplement on Kira Talent. Health Sciences, Nursing and Commerce applicants each give one written response and one video response. Queen's says it will not review extra items such as reference letters or a CV. The fall supplement is due February 15, 2027, and late work is not accepted.
McMaster posts its Level I supplement questions on December 1, 2026. You then get an email with instructions, and the portal is open only for a set time with no extensions. McMaster says the supplement is due in early or mid-February 2027 but has not posted the exact day. It also accepts no CV or resume.
Authorship rules are strict at both. McMaster says answers must be entirely your own. It does not allow discussing them with others, using admissions consultants or using generative AI. Queen's says material written by someone else can cancel an application or an offer. Plan to write both supplements on your own.

First-year courses and what comes after
McMaster lists typical first-year courses such as Cellular and Molecular Biology, two chemistry courses and an Inquiry course. Inquiry I is part of first year, and inquiry-based learning is the program's core method. You can also pick electives and may finish with a minor.
Queen's first year includes anatomy and physiology work in its labs. Its course list includes Anatomy of the Human Body and a course on interprofessional health care. The program also offers learning tracks so you can lean toward the topics you like.
Queen's lists career paths such as medicine, pharmacy and the therapies. Each of those fields has its own later admission rules, tests and grades. Choose the program you would enjoy even if your plans change, since a health sciences degree also leads to research and other health jobs.

Other ways in at each school
Queen's also runs its Bachelor of Health Sciences online. Its supplement applies to the on-campus program. Queen's offers a non-degree route too: you can take a limited number of online courses as an interest student. Based on how you do, you may later move into the online degree. That gives a student below the minimum a second path to the same degree name.
Queen's accepts upper-year transfer and second-degree students into the program. Its supplement page notes that upper-year Health Sciences applicants also write a supplement, with a later summer window. So a strong first year somewhere else is not the end of the road.
McMaster has its own routes for some applicants. Indigenous applicants can apply through the Facilitated Indigenous Admissions Program as well as the usual way. Black and Latin American or Latinx applicants can self-identify for McMaster's equitable admissions processes when the supplement details arrive. FIAP applicants still meet the same course and grade rules as everyone else.

Dates to put in your calendar
Queen's needs your OUAC application by February 1, 2027 for Health Sciences. The supplement follows on February 15, 2027, and all documents are due March 31, 2027. If you want a Queen's Major Admission Award, its own application closes December 8, 2026, and Queen's suggests applying through OUAC by November 20, 2026.
McMaster's Level I page has not yet posted its OUAC deadline or its offer date for this cycle. The central supplement list gives early or mid-February 2027. Watch for the January instructions email, since the portal window is short.
Put the two supplement weeks side by side. If both land in mid-February, draft and record early. See Queen's dates and McMaster dates for every program date at each school.
