Université Laval Acceptance Rate: What Official Data Shows
For Fall 2023, Université Laval's Medicine program had 273 places for 3,197 applications, a ratio Laval lists as 9%. Laval publishes places, applications and that ratio for each of its 18 limited-enrolment undergraduate programs, along with the R-score of the last college applicant offered a place. A places ratio isn't an offer rate, so here's how to read it.
The short answer
- For Fall 2023, Laval's Medicine program had 273 places for 3,197 applications.
- Laval lists that as a ratio of 9 per cent, not an acceptance rate.
- The ratio divides places by applications, so it shows how crowded a program is.
- Your real chances can be better because some admitted students go elsewhere.
- Laval says an R-score at or above the listed level does not guarantee admission.

Why Laval's ratio isn't an acceptance rate
Laval's ratio divides places by applications. An acceptance rate divides offers by applicants. Programs can make more offers than they have places, because some admitted students choose elsewhere, and one student can apply to more than one program. So the ratio shows how crowded a program is, and your real chances can be better than it suggests.
Laval says an R-score at or above these levels doesn't guarantee admission the following year, and some programs add interviews, portfolios or aptitude tests.
