Laurentian Library: Desmarais Hours and Study Room Booking
The J.N. Desmarais Library is Laurentian University's main library in Sudbury. In early October 2026 it's open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and noon to 8 p.m. on weekends. It has 19 individual and 10 group study rooms that current students book online up to three weeks ahead, for up to three hours at a time.

The Rotunda outside the main entrance is open 24/7 for talking, eating and studying. Hours change by week, so check the hours page.

Study room rules
- Book online with your @laurentian.ca or @laurentienne.ca email, up to three weeks ahead. Rooms can't be used without a booking.
- Scan the QR code in the room to check in. If nobody claims the room within 30 minutes, the booking is cancelled.
- Group rooms: up to three hours, at most two bookings a week, and at least two people must use the room.
- Individual rooms: up to three hours, twice a day and up to five days a week.
Quiet and open spaces
- The 3rd floor is a quiet study floor, home to the individual study rooms and the Brenda Wallace Reading Room.
- The Brenda Wallace Computer Centre on the 2nd floor is open for general use when no class is booked.
- The Angus Gilbert Reading Room in the Archives seats up to 40 people, with no food or drink; check Archives hours first.
- The Education Resource Centre (AR-102, Alphonse Raymond Building) is open to all library users.
