Lakehead Residences: 2026-27 Thunder Bay Rates Compared
Lakehead University's Thunder Bay campus has residence halls for students coming from high school, plus apartments and townhouses for upper-year students. Every room is a single student room. For the September 3, 2026 to April 19, 2027 contract, a residence hall room with the required meal plan costs $11,588.16 (double), $12,896.16 (basic single) or $14,204.16 (single). Apartments and townhouses cost $8,562 without meals. You must be admitted before you apply.

2026-27 rates (8-month contract)
You pay a $250 down payment with your contract, a first instalment by August 15, 2026 and the rest by December 15, 2026. A late fee applies for each missed due date.

Halls, apartments and townhouses
- Residence halls: Bartley, Avila Centre and Prettie are smoke-free, dorm-style halls for students from high school and upper years. A full meal plan is included.
- Apartments: the North and South complexes, between Halliday Hall and Bartley, house upper-year students. Each four-bedroom unit has a shared kitchen, living room and two washrooms, and some units are accessible. Meal plans are optional.
- Townhouses: for upper-year students, with optional meal plans. Townhouses are also used for spring and summer housing.
- About 1,200 students live in Lakehead residence. Housing for couples and families isn't available.
How to apply
- Accept your offer of admission first; you need your Lakehead username and password from your acknowledgement letter.
- The current high school application is for students graduating from high school in June 2027.
- Rooms are assigned after you complete the online form and pay the $250 down payment.
- For 2026-27 the application deadline was June 1, 2026, and Lakehead lists limited rooms. Applications for 2027-28 open in March 2027.
