Lakehead Course Registration: Timetable, Waitlists and Drops

Lakehead University students plan a timetable and register for courses in myPortal. Fall and winter registration happens in June, staggered by year level, and you get an email with your own date and time. If a waitlisted seat opens, you have 72 hours to take it.

Registering

  • In myPortal choose Student, then Course Registration, then Register for Classes.
  • Planned courses show in yellow; red means a time conflict or a waitlist.
  • Click Register for Course for one course, or Register for All Courses for the term. Registered courses turn green and you get a confirmation email.
  • Courses with a lab or other corequisite must be registered together with Register for All Courses.
  • If you have unpaid fees, you can't register.

Full courses and special permission

  • If a full course has a waitlist, click Waitlist. When a seat opens you get an email and have 72 hours to register.
  • Missing a prerequisite, or want more courses than your program allows? Submit a Special Permissions Request. A course overload needs at least a B average in the previous year.
  • Approval doesn't guarantee a seat if the course is full.

Dropping a course

Use Student, then Course Registration, then Drop My Course(s). Check the add and drop dates in the Academic Calendar and the refund schedule first. If you get OSAP or a scholarship, ask Student Central whether dropping affects your funding.
