Lakehead Library: Chancellor Paterson Hours and Study Rooms
The Chancellor Paterson Library is Lakehead University's main library, at 955 Oliver Road on the Thunder Bay campus. In October 2026 it's open 8 a.m. to midnight on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends, and closed on Thanksgiving Monday, October 12. Group study rooms must be booked online, and you confirm each booking within one hour.

What's in the library
- Stacks on the 3rd and 4th floors; print journals and government documents on the 2nd floor.
- Archives and Nanda Gikendan Gamik on the 5th floor.
- A makerspace, café and the TSC Help Desk on the main floor, plus a computer lab, printers and group and individual study space.
- The Services Desk near the entrance issues student ID cards, lends materials and adds print credits.

Booking a group study room
- Rooms are for group study and must be reserved online, or ask at the Services Desk.
- Confirm your booking within one hour, or the system cancels it.
- If your room is empty 30 minutes after your booking starts, staff may give it away.
- An accessible computer in room LI 1007 can be requested at circdesk@lakeheadu.ca or 807-343-8225.
- Laptops and cameras can be borrowed; confirm equipment bookings within one hour too.
Other Lakehead libraries
Thunder Bay also has an Education Library and a Law Library. On the Orillia campus, the Harvie Legacy Library has bookable study rooms and study pods in the Orsi Family Learning Commons.
