Brock Portal, Brightspace and First-Year Course Registration

Brock uses two main systems. my.brocku.ca, the Brock Portal, is where you check your application, apply for residence, register for courses and pay fees. Brightspace, at lms.brocku.ca, is where your course content lives once you're registered. For Fall/Winter 2026-27, new first-year students could register from 6 a.m. on June 25, 2026. Brock hasn't published the exact 2027 date yet; it says registration will open in late June 2027.

my.brocku.ca vs Brightspace

Both use your Brock credentials, but they do different jobs. If Brightspace won't let you in, Brock's IT page says to check first that you can log in to my.brocku.ca.

Activate your portal first

Do this as soon as you've applied. Brock asks you to activate it at least 24 hours before you register.

  • Find the acknowledgement email from Brock and note your campus ID.
  • Open the account activation link in that email, or go to the Student Activation page on my.brocku.ca.
  • Enter your campus ID and date of birth, then follow the prompts.
  • Set up multi-factor authentication once the account is active.
  • Accept your offer on OUAC if you applied through OUAC. If you didn't, accept it in the portal.

How to register for first-year courses

Your program is listed on your offer of admission. Look up its requirements in the Academic Calendar, then build a schedule for both terms. A full course load is 3 to 5 courses each term. Many lectures have a seminar, lab or tutorial, and you have to register in both parts.

Course codes tell you the term. D1 courses run fall and winter, D2 courses are fall only and D3 courses are winter only.

  • Log in to my.brocku.ca and open the Applicant and Student Self Serve tab.
  • Click Register, choose the correct Program/Session and complete the Declaration Form.
  • Search by course name and number, for example ECON 1P92.
  • Click the plus sign to see a course's seminars, labs or tutorials, then click Add beside the section you want. That adds both the lecture and the section.
  • Check the result on the Student Schedule page. Use Course Planning to watch for space in full courses.

2026-27 registration and drop dates

Registration opens at 6 a.m. on each date. You can't register if you owe $4,800 or more, so check the Financial History tab first.
