University of Guelph programs, majors, and degrees
The University of Guelph currently advertises more than 75 undergraduate majors and more than 60 minors. Its Ontario admission guide puts the direct-entry choices into 15 bachelor degree groupings. So the right comparison is the exact degree and major. That includes prerequisites, co-op, first-year structure, and any supplementary form. It is not a generic list of faculties.
For Fall 2027, Guelph lists Electrical Engineering with co-op and a BFA in Music Theatre. Its Artificial Intelligence degree and a Biosystems Engineering rename remain approval-dependent. Guelph now has eight colleges after separating Engineering from Computational, Mathematical and Physical Sciences.

Veterinary Medicine is not direct from high school. It needs a separate application. You apply after eligible university study.

| Degree | Majors or focus | Entry structure | Program-choice note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bachelor of Applied Science | Applied Human Nutrition, Child Studies, and Family Studies and Human Development | You pick a major when you apply. Applied Human Nutrition needs science prerequisites. The child and family majors use a different prerequisite pattern. | Compare nutrition and health science with child-development and family-focused study. Do not treat the degree as one uniform route. |
| Bachelor of Arts | Psychology, Criminal Justice and Public Policy, Economics, Political Science, International Development, humanities, and creative disciplines | Applicants select a major or area. Economics and Quantitative Economics and Finance require Advanced Functions; other BA majors use the broader BA prerequisite pattern. | Several BA majors offer co-op. Psychology and Criminal Justice and Public Policy currently have higher estimated ranges and named alternate-offer routes. |
| Bachelor of Arts and Sciences | An integrated arts, social-science, and science curriculum | This is a direct-entry interdisciplinary degree. It needs English, Advanced Functions, two senior sciences, and an arts or social-studies prerequisite. | Use the official calendar. Compare its integrated core with pursuing a conventional BA or BSc plus electives or a minor. |
| Bachelor of Bio-Resource Management | Environmental Management and Equine Management | Applicants select a major. The two majors have different science and mathematics prerequisites. | Both current majors list a co-op option. Compare their applied-management focus and their required course sequences. |
| Bachelor of Commerce | Accounting, Management, Marketing Management, Real Estate, Sport and Event Management, and five other current majors | Applicants can select a major or enter the undeclared first year. Mathematics requirements differ for some majors. | If you want co-op, apply directly to a co-op major. The undeclared first-year route does not have a co-op option. |
| Bachelor of Computing | Computer Science and Software Engineering | Applicants choose Computer Science or Software Engineering, then select the regular or co-op version through OUAC. The current Ontario requirements include English, Calculus and Vectors, and four additional 4U/M courses. | Guelph marks both majors with a co-op option, not as co-op-only. Co-op applicants need at least an 80% university-level high-school average for consideration, and the actual cut-off can be higher. |
| Bachelor of Creative Arts, Health and Wellness | Music, Studio Art, and Theatre Studies | This is a direct-entry degree. It connects creative practice with health and wellness. Applicants should verify the current program-specific selection requirements. | Compare this degree with the matching BA creative-discipline route. The degree structure and required curriculum are different. |
| Bachelor of Engineering | Biological, Biomedical, Civil, Computer, Environmental, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Water Resources, and Engineering Systems and Computing | Applicants pick a specific engineering major. They need English, both Grade 12 U mathematics courses, Chemistry, and Physics. | Engineering admits to co-op. Electrical Engineering is listed for Fall 2027. Civil Engineering is active, but a generic admissions page still carries outdated pending-approval wording; new Civil and Mechatronics programs cannot receive CEAB accreditation until their first cohort graduates. |
| Bachelor of Indigenous Environmental Science and Practice | Indigenous and Western knowledge systems applied to environmental science and practice | A direct-entry degree with English, Advanced Functions, Biology, Chemistry, and two additional 4U/M courses. | Read the program curriculum and the community-engaged learning model on their own. Do not group them with the usual environmental-science degree. |
| Bachelor of Landscape Architecture | Landscape design, planning, ecology, and professional practice | Applicants need English and five additional 4U/M courses. Admission combines grades with the mandatory Background Information Form. | The BIF has its own deadline. Design arts, technical drawing, and science are recommended preparation even though they are not listed as universal prerequisites. |
| Bachelor of Mathematics | Mathematical Science | Applicants need English, Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors, and three additional 4U/M courses. | Compare the Mathematical Science curriculum with quantitative paths in Arts. Also compare it with paths in Computing, Engineering, and the physical sciences. |
| Bachelor of One Health | Human, animal, and environmental health through an interdisciplinary core | Applicants need English, Advanced Functions, two senior sciences, one arts or social-studies course, and one additional 4U/M course. | Use the official course sequence. It shows the balance among health, science, policy, and social perspectives. |
| Bachelor of Science | Animal Biology, Bio-Medical Science, Biological Science, Food Science, Human Kinetics, Neuroscience, Physics, Chemistry, and other biological or physical sciences | You pick a biological-science or physical-science major. Prerequisites and current estimated ranges differ by group and by competitive major. | Many science majors offer co-op. Animal Biology, Bio-Medical Science, and Human Kinetics also have named alternate-offer pathways. |
| Bachelor of Science in Agriculture | Animal Science, Crop Science, Honours Agriculture, and Horticulture | The current admissions page describes a common first year, with the major selected in second year. | All four listed majors currently offer co-op. Compare the shared first-year science base and each major's later course sequence. |
| Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences | Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Environment and Resource Management, Environmental Economics and Policy, and Earth Observation and Geographic Information Science | The degree uses a common first year and later major selection. Senior Biology and Chemistry are recommended preparation. | Every current major in the official program directory has a co-op option. But you must check schedules and entry rules by major. |
Co-op, common first year, and undeclared entry
Guelph uses several entry models. Computer Science and Software Engineering have separate regular and co-op choices, while Bachelor of Engineering majors are currently marked co-op-only at admission. Commerce offers an undeclared first year, but students who want co-op should apply directly to a co-op major. Agriculture and Environmental Sciences use a common first year before major selection. Many Arts, Science, Commerce, and environmental majors also list co-op, with competitive admission that can exceed the published regular-program range.
Use the Guelph admission-requirements section to compare Ontario prerequisites. Compare current planning averages there too. Use the co-op and career section for the broader work-experience checklist.
