Register for accessibility support

Accessible Learning Services supports students with disabilities, medical or mental-health conditions and temporary injuries. Students register before receiving academic accommodations, then work with an Accessibility Counsellor on an individual plan. Mohawk says an IEP does not transfer automatically from high school, and temporary accommodations may be possible while documentation is obtained.

Use counselling for short-term support

Counselling provides free, confidential, short-term, goal-directed psychotherapy for students whose personal well-being or mental health affects academic success. It can also support students waiting for outpatient care. Use the booking route for routine support and the emergency resources named on the current page when immediate help is needed.

Choose the right academic service

Student Success Advising routes learners to academic advising, tutoring, library, testing, financial help, Indigenous services and campus supports. Availability and in-person locations differ. Contact the named service early, especially when accommodations or preplacement clearance must be arranged before a test, clinical activity or work term.

Match recreation to the facility

Mohawk identifies two recreation facilities: the David Braley Athletic & Recreation Centre and the Stoney Creek Fitness Centre. Athletics & Recreation offers extramural, intramural and recreational opportunities, while Mohawk's varsity teams operate from Fennell. Check the linked athletics site for current hours and membership information before travelling because the college page does not state one access rule for every student or campus.

Use Student Life for involvement

Student Life lists events, volunteering and leadership routes, including MoCrew, peer mentorship and community engagement. It also points students to Mohawk Students' Association clubs and athletics. Eligible involvement can be added to the Co-Curricular Record during the current academic year, so use the live opportunity and eligibility details rather than assuming every event or role qualifies.

Decision checklist

  • Register with ALS rather than relying on a prior IEP.
  • Use counselling within its short-term scope.
  • Choose the service for the specific academic task.
  • Check the facility, campus, hours and membership route.
  • Use Student Life to find current involvement opportunities.
