Admissions Planning
Fall 2027 admission planning
Separate the live 2027 program dates from the pending general cycle
CMU has confirmed Fall 2027 dates for Education, Music and Music Therapy. Its general Canadian requirements page still labels the Fall 2026 cycle, so this guide does not carry that deadline forward.
Ontario minimum
70% overall
Six 4U/M courses; ENG4U at 65% or higher.
Fall 2027 BEd
Opens Oct. 1, 2026
After-degree pathway with a separate application.
2027 Music audition
Feb. 26, 2027
Music Therapy uses a separate Jan. 15 priority date.
Cycle boundary
A published 2026 deadline is not a 2027 deadline
The live general page lists August 25 for Fall 2026. Recheck the CMU application portal for the general Fall 2027 date, while using the explicitly dated program evidence below where it applies.
Admission route audit
| Route | Published requirement | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Ontario high school | Six Grade 12 4U/M courses, 70% overall, no course below 60%, and ENG4U at 65% or higher | This is CMU’s current published university-wide minimum, not a guarantee for later-entry professional programs. |
| Manitoba high school | Five full-credit 40-level courses; 70% across English 40S, Math 40S and one approved academic course; English at 60% or higher | Two additional 40-level courses complete the current pattern, and pass/fail courses are not accepted. |
| Domestic transfer | Fewer than 30 credits uses high-school assessment; more than 30 credits requires a 2.0 GPA | Program prerequisites and CMU degree-residency requirements still apply after credit assessment. |
| Domestic mature student | Age 21 by the end of the application year plus one of CMU’s published academic or prior-learning conditions | Mature entrants begin on probationary status and must satisfy English proficiency where required. |
| International undergraduate | Country-specific credential, internationally examined curriculum, Canadian/US high school, or one full-time Canadian/US post-secondary year | Official transcripts and current English evidence are required where the country rules do not exempt the applicant. |
| Bachelor of Social Work | 27 university credits with a C+ average, minimum C per presented course, prerequisites, essay, references and interview selection | This is later entry after first-year university study, not direct final admission from high school. |
| Bachelor of Education after-degree | Recognized bachelor’s degree by June 15 and 2.50 AGPA over the most recent 60 credits, plus experience, statements, references and interview selection | Fall 2027 applications open October 1, 2026; this is not a direct-entry undergraduate Education degree. |

Programs and Pathways
Program and credential fit
CMU-owned degrees with carefully bounded affiliated study
CMU is an independent degree-granting university. Menno Simons College is its specific UWinnipeg affiliation, while pre-professional study prepares students to apply for professional credentials elsewhere.
Bachelor of Arts
Three- and four-year Arts study spans fields such as Biblical and Theological Studies, Communications and Media, English, Environmental Studies, History, PACTS, Psychology and Social Sciences.
CMU’s directory lists 18 BA majors within a broader seven-degree, 29-major undergraduate portfolio.
Bachelor of Science
Science includes Biology and Mathematics degree routes with options such as Biochemistry and Ecology concentrations.
Pre-professional course planning does not make medicine, dentistry, nursing or veterinary medicine CMU degrees.
Redekop School of Business
The BBA offers Business Management, Accounting, Human Resource Management and Conflict Resolution, and Social Entrepreneurship directions.
Business also exists as BA major/minor study; compare the credential and 120-hour WIL requirement before declaring.
Music
CMU offers the Bachelor of Music plus three- and four-year BA Music routes.
BMus entry requires the current primary-instrument or voice audition; the BA Music declaration can also use six introductory Music credits with at least C.
Music Therapy
The four-year BMT combines music, psychology and clinical training; a two-year after-degree route serves applicants with a prior Music degree.
Music Therapy has a separate audition/interview and national professional-certification pathway.
Bachelor of Social Work
A 120-credit degree with final program admission after at least 27 university credits and more than 700 placement hours across third and fourth year.
The live program describes CASWE Pre-Accreditation status, not a completed full-accreditation claim.
Bachelor of Education after-degree
A 16-month intensive route beginning in August for applicants who already hold an approved bachelor’s degree.
It is a later-entry CMU degree with separate competitive admission and Manitoba certification steps.
Menno Simons College / UWinnipeg
CMU’s MSC program offers Conflict Resolution Studies in affiliation with the University of Winnipeg; courses are integrated into UWinnipeg’s BA curriculum.
The three-year CRS major continues, four-year CRS is returning-students-only, and IDS no longer admits new majors. Do not attribute the entire UWinnipeg catalogue to CMU.
Outtatown
Outtatown was CMU’s former discipleship and cross-cultural learning program.
CMU announced it discontinued the program indefinitely in 2020; archived descriptions are not a current Fall 2027 offering.
Three boundaries worth checking
- BSW final admission follows university study; BEd requires a prior bachelor’s degree.
- Menno Simons Conflict Resolution Studies is affiliated with UWinnipeg; that does not transfer the entire UWinnipeg catalogue to CMU.
- Outtatown was discontinued indefinitely in 2020 and is not a current Fall 2027 option.

Residence and Campus Fit
Residence and meal planning
Compare CMU’s three housing buildings and capacity caveat
Dorm rooms and apartments use different meal obligations. The free Poettcker room offer has eligibility rules, but CMU also says space is limited and housing is not guaranteed.

Current double-occupancy rate for students not eligible for the free-dorm offer; utilities and internet are included.
Concord Hall dorm
$1,627.27 per semester

Free first-year dorm offer
Poettcker double-room rent covered

Housing deposit and assignment
$250 domestic non-refundable deposit
Applications open March 1 on the current instructions, require two references, and assignments are sent in mid-July.
Fall 2027 guarantee and prices
Pending / officially conflicted
CMU advertises free dorm to every eligible first-year student but also says space is limited and on-campus housing is not guaranteed; no Fall 2027 cycle terms are posted.
Official-source conflict

Co-op, Research, and Career Outcomes
Work-integrated learning
Every degree includes WIL, but the model is not one universal co-op
CMU’s standard language is supervised, for-credit placement that may be paid or unpaid. Business, Social Work and Music Therapy then add program-specific hour and placement structures.
University-wide WIL requirement
CMU says every degree student completes at least one work-integrated learning placement, and 100% of undergraduates can complete one regardless of major.
Internship model, not universal co-op
CMU describes placements as supervised, structured, for-credit internships that may be paid or unpaid; it does not publish one universal alternating co-op schedule.
WIL course choices
Options include 60- or 120-hour seminars, intensive six- or twelve-week placements, and a Social Innovation Lab with separate prerequisites.
Business placement
Redekop School programs publish at least 120 hours of business-related work experience.
Social Work field education
The BSW publishes more than 700 hours across two third- and fourth-year field placements.
Music Therapy clinical training
The BMT publishes three supervised practicum placements plus one full-time 1,000-hour internship.
Outtatown boundary
Outtatown is not a current WIL alternative or study-abroad route; CMU discontinued it indefinitely in 2020.

Canadian Mennonite University applicants should treat CMU as an independent Winnipeg university, not a University of Manitoba college. Use CMU’s own admission, tuition, residence, award and degree information; treat Menno Simons College as a specific UWinnipeg affiliation rather than importing the full UWinnipeg catalogue; and do not present discontinued Outtatown material as current. Fall 2027 Education and Music dates are confirmed, while the general application deadline, 2027–28 tuition, housing terms and award cycle remain pending. CMU requires work-integrated learning across its degrees, but its current model is supervised for-credit placement rather than one universal alternating co-op sequence.
