Logging in

STU-VIEW needs your student ID number and password, which you got when you accepted your offer. For Brightspace, your user ID is your student ID followed by @georgebrown.ca, and your password is your STU-VIEW password.

George Brown requires multi-factor authentication (MFA) for its systems. If a login fails, reset your password with the personal email on file, or call the Help Desk at 416-415-5000, ext. 4357.

The registration checklist

George Brown publishes a checklist for each term. Full-time post-secondary students register online in STU-VIEW, in a staggered window set by program.

  • Pay your initial fee deposit. New students, returning students and anyone starting a new program must pay it before registering.
  • First-year students: check your Admissions Application Summary for any communications or math placement assessment, and book it in STU-VIEW.
  • Check your registration start time, which STU-VIEW posts ahead of each term.
  • Read your Degree Works Academic Progress Report to see what courses you still need.
  • Pick a cohort or option if your program uses them.
  • Register through the Course Registration and Timetable card, then pay the balance of your fees.
  • Check your timetable often, especially the week before classes.

Adding and dropping courses

In most programs, you add or drop courses yourself in STU-VIEW, through the Course Registration and Timetable card, before the deadline on the important dates page. For Fall 2026 full-term courses, the last day to add was September 14 and the last day to drop was September 21.

Talk to your academic department before dropping anything. Dropping more than two courses can move you to part-time status, which can change your tuition and OSAP eligibility. Continuing Education courses use a separate process.

Getting your student ID

Set up your ID online: upload a head-and-shoulders photo, then validate it with a selfie holding government ID. You'll need your student ID number, password and MFA set up first. The digital ID lives in the George Brown app.

A physical card is worth ordering. It's what gets full-time students into the athletic centres, and you can pick it up at a library location. Most full-time students pay a non-refundable $15 ID fee with their first-semester tuition. Part-time students in full-time programs pay the $15 in STU-VIEW before creating their ID.
