What each athletic centre has
St. James and Casa Loma have the fuller centres. Waterfront's space in Limberlost Place is set up differently, with a climbing wall.
| Centre | Where | What's there |
|---|---|---|
| St. James | 200 King St. E., Building A, 6th floor | Fitness centre, single gymnasium, fitness studio, locker rooms and changerooms with private showers and changing stalls |
| Casa Loma | 160 Kendal Ave., Building C, lower level | Fitness centre, single gymnasium, fitness studio, locker rooms and changerooms with private showers and changing stalls |
| Waterfront | Limberlost Place, 185 Queens Quay E., main floor | Multi-purpose gym, rock climbing wall and a weight room with changing rooms, lockers and showers |

How to get in
Full-time students have athletic centre access included in their fees. You'll need a physical student ID card with a current academic-year sticker at every visit. To get the sticker, fill in a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (Par-Q) at any athletic centre, once each academic year.
Part-time students, alumni and community members can buy a fitness-centre-only membership, in person. Students have first priority for the facilities. Locks cost $6.
- No physical ID means no entry. If you only have the digital ID, order a physical card first.
- Centres close on statutory holidays, intersession weeks and between terms.
Part-time access: two different prices
George Brown's two official pages disagree on the part-time fee. The main athletics page says part-time students pay $60 a semester. The Athletics memberships page lists $63.00 a semester, shown as price plus HST, and says prices change each September 1. Confirm the amount at an athletic centre before you pay.
Hours are short, so check first
On September 29, 2026, the facilities page listed weekday-only hours: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the St. James and Casa Loma fitness centres and gyms, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the Waterfront multi-purpose room and weight room. Hours change without notice, so check the facilities page before you go.
Fitness classes, drop-in and intramurals
Fall 2026 fitness classes run one hour on all three campuses: kickboxing, Pilates, yoga and studio cycle. Each class has its own days and times at each campus.
Drop-in gym times cover sports such as soccer, basketball, cricket, badminton, pickleball and volleyball. Wear athletic shoes; boots aren't allowed.
Intramural leagues run five weeks and are for full-time students. Fall 2026 leagues include 4-on-4 basketball and unified basketball at St. James, 5-on-5 indoor soccer at Casa Loma and badminton at Waterfront. Register your team before each league's deadline.
Playing for the Huskies
George Brown's varsity teams are the Huskies. They compete in the OCAA and CCAA in men's and women's basketball, volleyball and outdoor soccer. Interested students fill in the Prospective Athlete Form, then the tryout registration form before tryouts.
- You must be a full-time student to play in OCAA or CCAA games.
- Certificate, diploma and advanced diploma athletes need a semester GPA of 1.70 or higher. Degree students need 2.30 or higher.
- Under OCAA rules, athletic awards are capped at $1,500 per semester of competition and $3,000 per calendar year.
