Booking a group study room

Group study rooms are for currently registered George Brown students working on George Brown courses. Book ahead through the Reservation System, or same-day through Reservation Mobile.

If you just need a quiet seat, the library has study carrels, open-access computers and quiet study zones. They're first come, first served.

  • Book up to 30 days in advance.
  • Up to 6 people per room.
  • A maximum of 3 hours per day, with no double bookings.
  • You lose the room if you're more than 15 minutes late, or leave it empty for more than 15 minutes.

Borrowing books and technology

Your George Brown student ID is your library card. You can borrow laptops, tablets, Wi-Fi hotspots, charging cables, VR headsets and therapy lamps for free. Most tech is kept at St. James, Casa Loma and Waterfront, so call ahead to check that an item is in.

Use your library account to place holds, check due dates and renew. Loan periods depend on the item.

Research and tech help

Every new student is assigned a personal librarian, who'll email you. Reference desks at Casa Loma, St. James and Waterfront offer drop-in research help Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For evenings and weekends, the askON chat and text service connects you with library staff.

For password resets, multi-factor authentication or Office 365 problems, book a one-on-one appointment at the Casa Loma, St. James, TMU or Waterfront LLC. For writing and citation help, the Tutoring and Learning Centre offers drop-in and booked tutoring.

Accessible library services

The LLC offers an extended loan policy, accessible formats requested through ACE, and assistive devices and adaptive technology. Open the accessible library services page for the details of each.

Toronto Public Library too

George Brown points students to the Toronto Public Library as well. All George Brown students can get a free TPL card, even if they don't live in Toronto.
