Where it is and who runs it

Centennial Place is at 937 Progress Ave., Scarborough, about 230 m from Progress Campus. It houses Centennial College students and also University of Toronto Scarborough students. Knightstone Student Communities manages it, so applications, leases and rent all go through the residence office, not the college.

If you study at another campus, the residence says it helps you find transit routes. It lists Morningside as 4.7 km away and Ashtonbee as 12.5 km away. Centennial Place's office is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, and the front desk runs 8 a.m. to midnight every day. Call 416-438-2216 or email centennialplace@liveksc.ca.

Suites and listed installments

Every suite is furnished and has a full kitchen with a full-size fridge, oven and stove. Internet, water, hydro, heat and air conditioning are included. Only select units have accessible features, so ask for one in your application.

The prices below are listed per person. Centennial Place says they aren't monthly rent. Each one is your lease's total base rent divided by your number of installments, and rates can change.

Lease length and payments

Leases start at the beginning of your academic term. They end in December of the same year, or in April, May or August of the next year. You pay in 4, 8 or 9 installments, each due on the 1st of the month.

If your lease starts or ends mid-month, the first or last installment is pro-rated up or down. Your lease shows the total, so read it before you sign. You can pay online through the resident portal, or by cheque or money order.

How to apply and what the deposit covers

Centennial Place accepts applications year-round and leases rooms first come, first served. A finished application doesn't hold a bed. Your space is only guaranteed once you've paid and both you and your guarantor have signed the lease.

  • Apply online through the Centennial Place application portal. There's a separate form if you're applying from abroad and can't open the portal.
  • Name a guarantor. It's required. Your guarantor must be over 18, can live in Canada or abroad, and signs the lease with you.
  • Pay a $500 security deposit and a $100 application fee in the portal. The application fee isn't refundable.
  • Sign the lease. The residence office emails it to you and your guarantor once your payment arrives.

Refunds, cancellations and the waitlist

Your $500 deposit comes back after move-out, minus anything you still owe. The lease is a binding contract for its full term, and an approved early release forfeits the deposit.

When the building is full, signing a lease puts you on the waitlist. Centennial Place warns that a space may never open, so line up other housing at the same time. International students still waiting on a visa can apply once Centennial has accepted them.

Costs outside your installment

Centennial Place calls itself all-inclusive except for parking. A few other costs still belong in your budget.

  • Renter's insurance is required. Buy your own policy and send proof, or the residence enrols you in its group plan and adds a monthly fee to your ledger.
  • Kitchenware isn't supplied, even in suites with full kitchens.
  • Laundry is card operated.
  • Overnight parking needs a Centennial residence permit: $375 per semester, or $750 for September 1, 2026 to April 30, 2027. Centennial's parking page tells residents to use Lot 2, where rates apply 24/7. The residence FAQ names Lot 1, so confirm with Parking Services at 416-289-5300.

Food and dining

The residence FAQ and features pages don't describe a meal plan. You cook in your suite's kitchen or the shared community kitchens. The building also has a Grab n Go market on the first floor and The Local Café and Restaurant on the lower level, which is run by hospitality and culinary students. One floor plan page mentions a full dining program, so ask the office before you budget for food.

On campus, Progress has a Marketplace cafeteria with daily specials, grill stations and microwaves, plus Tim Hortons and Second Cup. Aramark runs Centennial's campus dining site, and your myCard pays at a long list of on-campus food outlets.

Support and amenities in the building

A full-time Residence Life Coordinator and live-in Resident Assistants run events and help with roommate conflicts. Once you sign, you can use the Please Don't Snore roommate matching tool, but only for fall, and assignments can change.

Entry is card controlled, with 24/7 security and cameras in common areas. Bedroom doors lock individually. Residents also get a 24-hour fitness centre with Peloton bikes, study lounges and a courtyard.
