Booking a study room

Study rooms are for registered Centennial students doing course work. You book them online through the library's room booking system, in Eastern time.

  • Book up to one week ahead.
  • You get up to three hours a day and six hours a week.
  • Your booking is held for 15 minutes. After that, staff can give the room to someone else.
  • Rooms aren't soundproof, and only drinks with secured lids are allowed.
  • Cancel in the booking system under Calendar, then View All.
  • Ashtonbee and Progress also have technology studios with a camera, microphone and screen for rehearsing or recording presentations. Book them online too.

Silent and quiet study

The libraries use three noise zones. Silent zones are for individual study with no talking or phone use. Quiet zones allow brief, quiet conversation. Collaborative zones are for group work, and phones are fine there. Library desks hand out earplugs.

Food isn't allowed in the libraries. Drinks are fine in spill-proof containers.

Borrowing books, laptops and printing

Your myCard or library card is your borrowing card, and you can have up to 25 items out. Books are two-week loans and textbooks are seven-day loans. Off campus, log in to online resources with your myCentennial ID and password.

Laptops lend for four hours at a time from self-check kiosks at Progress and Morningside and from the library desks at Ashtonbee and Downsview. Late laptops cost $5 an hour, and you must use one on the campus where you borrowed it. iPads are at Downsview only. Sign the Library Equipment Loan Agreement at a help desk before your first loan.

Unpaid library fines can put a hold on your account, which blocks course registration and transcript requests.

Printing runs on your myCard balance. Add money online or with cash at the campus bookstore, with a $5 minimum. Letter-size printing costs $0.07 a page in black and white or $0.23 in colour.

Tutoring and math help

Book a tutor online or in person through the library's tutor booking system, using your myCentennial ID and password. You can book up to seven days ahead, and you can't cancel within six hours of the start. In-person sessions meet in your campus Learning Centre. Online sessions run on MS Teams.

Math drop-in hours are posted for Morningside, Monday to Thursday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and for Ashtonbee, Tuesday to Thursday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in person. Check the hours page for the other campuses.
