Admissions depend on the program
The Computer Programming page gives a real 2026/27 Ontario example. Your applicant category, your program and your intake still decide the answer.
Choose an application route
Domestic applicants to full-time programs apply through OntarioColleges.ca. International applicants use Algonquin's International Application Portal. After you apply, Algonquin sends a student number. Applicants use ACSIS to see application status and missing items. International applicants upload documents in the international portal. That page lists a $135 application fee. It says only one active application is processed. Other applications are cancelled. Their fees are not refunded.
Three current instructions conflict for domestic applicants with international credentials. The admissions hub says Algonquin assesses them in house. The document page says applicants must use one of two organizations, but then lists ICAS, WES and Algonquin’s own evaluation. The Computer Programming panel specifically requires ICAS or WES. Check the selected program’s current panel and confirm with the Registrar which assessment route applies before paying.
Check Computer Programming requirements
For Computer Programming's 2026/27 panel, college eligibility is an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent. Mature-student status at program start also counts. Program eligibility includes ENG4C or equivalent. You also need one mathematics route. The routes are MCT4C or MCR3U or equivalent. Or MAP4C or equivalent at 80% or higher. Or MCF3M or equivalent at 70% or higher. If qualified applicants exceed available places, Algonquin says selection may use English and mathematics proficiency. Meeting the published minimum is not a guaranteed offer.
The same page says applications received by February 1 receive equal consideration. Later applications are processed first-come, first-served while places remain. Programming experience is not required. Basic computer skills and programming aptitude are preparation guidance. They are not an extra listed course or test.

Budget added costs and check pathways
Each program page routes tuition and related ancillary fees through Algonquin's estimator. It says fees can change. Added costs are program-specific. Outdoor Adventure identifies clothing, equipment, books, readiness camp and possible travel costs. Culinary Skills says required footwear, uniform, knives and toolkit are included in tuition. Compare the estimator result and the exact additional-cost notes. Do not rely on one college-wide total.

Separate co-op eligibility from employment
Computer Programming offers an optional co-op route with published eligibility checks; employment and placement remain student-dependent.
Computer Programming’s co-op participation is optional even though applicants use the co-op-labelled program application. It has two work terms and a 2.7 CGPA minimum in the current eligibility table. Eligibility is reviewed each term and also depends on full-time status, completing preceding courses, staying on program cycle, and completing GEP1001 two academic terms before the first work term. The program page describes paid industry experience but says students are responsible for finding and securing co-op employment.
More about careers and work experience
The program page says work terms are typically 14 weeks, and the co-op site makes clear that meeting the minimum does not guarantee participation or employment. Ask about co-op fees, the work-term schedule, and your employment-search responsibilities separately from admission. The official pages do not provide a placement rate or salary outcome.
