Admissions depend on the program

Ottawa, Ontario

The Computer Programming page provides a concrete 2026/27 Ontario example; applicant category, program, and intake still control the answer.

Choose an application route

Domestic applicants to full-time programs apply through OntarioColleges.ca; international applicants use Algonquin’s International Application Portal. After applying, Algonquin sends a student number and applicants use ACSIS to see application status and missing items. International applicants upload documents in the international portal, whose page lists a $135 non-refundable application fee.

Two current Registrar pages conflict for domestic applicants with international credentials: the admissions hub says Algonquin assesses them in house, while the document page directs them to ICAS or WES. Check both pages and ask the Registrar which instruction applies before paying for an assessment.

Check Computer Programming requirements

For Computer Programming’s 2026/27 panel, college eligibility is an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, or mature-student status at program start. Program eligibility includes ENG4C or equivalent plus one mathematics route: MCT4C or MCR3U or equivalent; MAP4C or equivalent at 80% or higher; or MCF3M or equivalent at 70% or higher. If qualified applicants exceed available places, Algonquin says selection may use English and mathematics proficiency. Meeting the published minimum is not a guaranteed offer.

The same page says applications received by February 1 receive equal consideration; later applications are processed first-come, first-served while places remain. Programming experience is not required, while basic computer skills and programming aptitude are preparation guidance rather than an extra listed course or test.

Decision checklist

  • Attach each requirement to the selected program, applicant category, and academic year.
  • Separate eligibility minima from competitive selection and the final offer.
  • Confirm document assessment and language evidence rules for international or non-Ontario records.
