Booking an Ottawa meeting room
Student meeting rooms are for groups of two or more. You can book up to 24 hours ahead, for up to two hours a day. Rooms are on the second and third floors of the DARE District, with more on the second floor of the ACCE building.
Booking has three steps. Submit a request online, confirm it from the email link within 15 minutes, then use the code from that email to check in at the QR code on the room door. The booking page gives 15 minutes for that step too.
- DARE District rooms seat 5 to 13 people. C264 is the largest, at 13.
- The Presentation Studio, C262, has presentation technology and a green wall for rehearsing or recording. Book it separately through the library's booking system.
Pembroke study spaces
The main level, room 145, is open during staffed hours and has silent carrels, quiet seating by the windows, computers, a printer and a light therapy lamp. The upper level is open whenever the campus is. You reach it by the main stairwell or elevators, not from inside the library.
- Three group study rooms on the upper level, 203, 204 and 205, are for groups only. Book them online.
- The Assistive Technology Meeting Room, 145c, seats one to six. Students registered with the Centre for Accessible Learning get priority. Anyone else can book it for up to two hours a day, same day only, at the main desk.
- Pembroke students can get a free Pembroke Public Library membership with their AC Card and proof of address, at 237 Victoria Street.
Research help and tutoring
Library staff offer brief research consultations and database help during office hours, through a contact form or by appointment. In the Fall term, the Ottawa Research Desk takes drop-ins from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays.
The askON live chat is staffed by Ontario library staff. It runs 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.
For writing, ESL or math help, the Student Learning Centre offers one-on-one tutoring and coaching. At Pembroke, you can book a coach in the Student Support Lab, 145b, up to two weeks ahead.
