Ottawa and Pembroke at a glance

Algonquin's site lists three locations: Ottawa, Pembroke and Online. Online shares the Ottawa mailing address, but it's a delivery mode, not a place you attend. Check your program page for the campus where your classes run.

The Ottawa Campus used to be called the Woodroffe Campus. That's why your timetable room codes start with W.

What happened to the Perth Campus

On February 24, 2025, Algonquin's Board of Governors approved closing the Perth Campus by August 2026. A June 2025 update said three programs were moving to Ottawa: Practical Nursing, Heritage Carpentry and Joinery, and the Business Agriculture diploma. Heritage Carpentry and Joinery moves to the ACCE building.

The same update said the Perth property sale was expected to close by August 31, 2026. The College's current site no longer lists Perth as a location. If you're applying to one of those three programs, confirm its campus and delivery on the program page.

Reading Ottawa building codes

A timetable room like WB457 means Woodroffe (Ottawa), Building B, fourth floor, room 457. The W won't appear on signs on campus, so ignore it when you're looking for a room. The ACCE building uses the two-letter code CA, which isn't the same as Building C.

  • The campus map page lists every building, including A, D, F, G, J, K, M, S and V, with floor plans for each level.

The U-Pass: cost and who gets it

The U-Pass is built into your AC Card, so one card works as your student ID and your OC Transpo and STO transit pass. It costs $240.67 per term, plus an $8.50 administrative fee once per academic year. If you're eligible, both are added to your fees automatically.

You're eligible if you're full time at the Ottawa Campus, in an Algonquin co-op work term, or registered with the Centre for Accessible Learning with at least a 40% course load. That last group must opt in. Part-time students, apprenticeship students and full-time online students aren't eligible.

  • New Fall 2026 U-Passes are valid from September 1, 2026. The pass doesn't work in a break term when you aren't paying the fee.
  • Get your card by uploading a photo to the AC Photo portal. You'll need the network username and password shown in ACSIS, which appear once your timetable is released and your fees are paid or deferred. Card Services doesn't take photos in person.
  • A lost or damaged card costs $25 to replace at Card Services, room E120 in the Student Commons.
  • The U-Pass also works on Para Transpo. Rural zones need a supplemental fare, and you'll need to call 613-560-5000 to set it up.

Opting out of the U-Pass

The fee is mandatory for eligible students, but some can opt out. Categories include living outside the OC Transpo or STO service area, studying away from Ottawa for more than 60 days in a term, holding another Ottawa school's U-Pass, having a CNIB-issued pass, or a documented medical reason. Each needs proof.

Apply within 10 business days of your program's start for a 100% fee assessment. After that, the assessment is prorated. You must reapply each academic year.

The two official pages describe the form differently. The U-Pass home page says the opt-out form is in ACSIS. The opt-out page walks you through the College's case management system, where you pick Forms and then U-Pass Opt Out. Start with the opt-out page and ask Card Services if the form isn't there.

OC Transpo and the O-Train

OC Transpo's Line 1 page says the O-Train currently runs from Tunney's Pasture to Blair, and that Line 1 is expanding west to Algonquin Station. Algonquin Station is today's Baseline Station, across from the college.

When it opens, Algonquin Station will be the western end of Line 1. A 67-metre enclosed pedestrian bridge links it to the ACCE building and to the existing bridge over Woodroffe Avenue. OC Transpo's O-Train West page doesn't give an opening date, so check OC Transpo before you plan your commute around it.

  • The U-Pass FAQ says you can use free Park and Ride lots across Ottawa, except the Baseline Station Park and Ride.
  • Driving? Pay-as-you-go parking in Lot 9 costs up to $12 a day in 2026-27, and a Lot 10 annual permit is $1,132. Residents need a Lot 11 permit, at $47 a week, $193 a month or $1,148 a year.

Getting around Pembroke

The U-Pass is an Ottawa Campus program. In Pembroke, the city runs Ottawa River Transit, an on-demand bus launched as a three-year pilot in August 2025. It runs inside city limits only.

A ride costs $5, or you can buy 5 rides for $25 or 10 for $50. Book 15 minutes to seven days ahead in the Blaise Transit app, online, or by calling 613-631-1766. After Labour Day it runs 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays, with no Sunday service.
