ACSIS or Brightspace?

ACSIS stands for Algonquin College Student Information System. The Registrar's Office calls it your one-stop online student portal, and admits it looks a bit old-fashioned. Brightspace is Algonquin's learning management system, where course materials, communication with faculty and assessments live.

Logging in and your network account

Log in to ACSIS with your student number and ACSIS password. The Registrar's Office says your password on first login is your date of birth, and you'll be asked to change it. Too many failed attempts lock you out until you verify your identity with the Registrar's Office.

Your network username and password appear in ACSIS under Network Account Info. They may not show until close to the start of term, and they aren't available until your fees are paid or deferred. You need them for your student email and for the AC Photo portal that issues your AC Card.

  • If your ACSIS account is blank, it's usually about fees or registration status. Contact the Registrar's Office through its online help portal.
  • The ACSIS FAQ says the system is available daily from 3 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The $500 deposit and fee deferrals

Domestic full-time students pay a non-refundable $500 tuition deposit in their first term of each academic year, which runs Fall, Winter, Spring. It holds your seat and goes toward that term's fees. If you've applied for OSAP, you can defer the deposit in ACSIS instead of paying it.

Once the deposit is paid or deferred, the rest of your fees are deferred automatically until the Balance Due Date, about three weeks after your term starts. In a later term of the same year, you can defer your fees at no charge in ACSIS by the Fees Due Date.

Miss the Balance Due Date or the Fees Due Date and you'll pay a $150 late penalty, at most once per term. New students who pay after the deposit due date may lose their seat.

  • Tuition deposit due dates: June 15 for Fall, November 1 for Winter and March 1 for Spring.
  • Fees due dates for returning students: November 15 for Winter and April 15 for Spring.
  • Returning international students who defer pay a non-refundable $2,200 deferral deposit. New international students pay the amount on their letter of acceptance.
  • Changing programs means a new $500 deposit for the new program.

How to pay tuition

In online banking, add Algonquin College as a payee and use your student number as the account number. Allow three business days, although the date you paid is the one that counts. Interac e-Transfer isn't accepted.

Flywire accepts payments from Canada or abroad, including credit cards within Canada, and some methods charge a fee. Full-time online program fees can't be paid by credit card.

  • Residence fees are a separate account. Pay them to "Algonquin Residence & Conference", never to the Algonquin College tuition payee.

Winter 2027 dates at the Ottawa Campus

These dates come from the Registrar's Office academic calendar for students at the Ottawa Campus, updated March 10, 2026. Most apply to most programs, and your timetable shows the actual withdrawal date for each course. Pembroke and online dates can differ, so select your campus in the calendar.

  • The calendar's Winter 2027 list says returning domestic students can "defer your fees or pay $500 deposit" by November 15. The Fall 2026 list and the fee terminology page say returning students in a later term defer at no charge. Confirm in ACSIS which applies to you.

Reading and changing your timetable

In ACSIS, go to Courses, then View Timetable. Room codes like WB457 mean Woodroffe (the Ottawa Campus), Building B, room 457 on the fourth floor. CA means the ACCE building. REMOTE and VIRTUAL mean the course is fully online.

During the change period you can drop, add or switch course sections online in ACSIS. If a change isn't available online, contact your department. If a change moves you between full-time and part-time, your fees are reassessed.

  • The Registrar's Office now provides academic advising. Email academicadvising@algonquincollege.com before you drop a course or withdraw.
  • The fee deferral won't work in ACSIS if you have an outstanding balance or no status line for the term. The ACSIS How To page lists fixes.
