UBC Meal Plan: All Access Dining at Feast, Gather and Open Kitchen

If you live in Totem Park, Place Vanier or Orchard Commons, you must buy UBC's All Access Dining Plan. For 2026-27 it costs $7,712.32 for the Winter Session. That buys unlimited entry to the three residence dining halls, Feast, Gather and Open Kitchen, plus $501.76 in Flex Dollars for other campus food. There's one plan, not a set of tiers, so you don't have to guess how much you'll eat.

What the All Access Dining Plan includes

UBC splits the plan into two parts. All Access Dining, worth $7,210.56, lets you swipe your card into any of the three dining halls as often as you like and eat what you want. Flex Dollars, worth $501.76, work like a prepaid balance at more than 30 campus food locations, some vending machines and library printing.

Half of your Flex Dollars load at the start of each term. You get 5% off at select UBC Food Services locations, and you can use Flex Dollars at the dining halls to buy a meal for a friend. Any Flex Dollars left after the last meal date move to a UBCcard Value Plan, which you can refund at any time less a $50 administration fee.

The three residence dining halls

Each residence area has its own hall, but your plan works at all three. In fall and winter, each hall is open 7 AM to 10 PM daily; individual stations keep their own hours. All three close in summer. Takeout is available if you order ahead online through Nutrislice.

When you pay and what winter break means

The meal plan is billed with your residence fees in three instalments. The first comes when you accept your residence offer, and it's part of the $1,995.18 first instalment for every first-year room.

The first meal is dinner on September 5, 2026. The last Term 1 meal is breakfast on December 23, 2026, and meals restart at dinner on January 4, 2027. Your plan ends with breakfast on April 28, 2027. There's no meal service over the winter break, when first-year residences close.

Allergies, halal and other dietary needs

Contact UBC Food Services as soon as you know you'll live in residence. The residence contract says Food Services decides whether it can meet your needs and can't guarantee there will be no cross-contamination. UBC Student Housing says food allergies are usually handled through dining accommodations rather than a room change.

Gather's Simply Local station serves meals made without the top 10 allergens, except fish. Every station has plant-based and made-without-gluten options, and all unprocessed chicken is halal. A residence dietitian can help, and UBC publishes handouts for eight diets, including halal, vegan and allergies. Ingredient and allergen details for every hall are on Nutrislice.

If you don't live in a first-year dining residence

Ritsumeikan-UBC House and Walter Gage rooms have full kitchens. First-year students placed there don't have to buy the All Access plan. They can buy a discounted bundle of dining hall swipes instead, and details come with the housing offer.

Commuters and anyone else can load a UBCcard Value Plan. You start by loading $5 or more, then save 5% on food and non-alcoholic drinks at UBC Food Services locations. The dollars don't expire, and refunds carry a $50 administration fee.
