SFU goSFU, mySchedule & Applicant Guide
SFU uses connected systems for different stages. Submit the undergraduate application through EducationPlannerBC. After SFU emails a nine-digit student number and temporary password, use the undergraduate applicant sign-in to open the Student Centre, review the To-Do List and monitor the decision. Accepting the offer and paying the admission deposit are prerequisites for the Computing ID. Continue using the applicant sign-in until SFU sends the ID email on its published intake schedule. Then activate it for goSFU and mySchedule.

Which SFU system should you use?
The names overlap because applicants and enrolled students both reach SFU records through the Student Centre. The login credential and available tasks change with student status. Use the route SFU assigns to your current stage rather than trying every system with the same credentials.
| Task | System | Who uses it | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Submit an undergraduate application and pay the application fee | EducationPlannerBC | Prospective undergraduate applicant | The submitted application and selected SFU program |
| See required admission documents | Applicant sign-in / Student Centre | Undergraduate applicant with SFU student number and temporary password | The current To-Do List |
| Monitor application status or an admission decision | Applicant sign-in / Student Centre | Current undergraduate applicant | Application status and SFU messages |
| Accept an offer and pay the admission deposit | Undergraduate applicant sign-in at applicant.sfu.ca → Student Centre | Admitted applicant | The offer instructions and account entry |
| Plan conflict-free timetable options | mySchedule through goSFU | Student with a Computing ID and enrolment access | Course combinations, meeting times and course-cart validation |
| Enrol or drop through a planned schedule | mySchedule | Student at or after the enrolment appointment | Complete the final submission step and verify the resulting schedule |
| Swap or edit course selections | goSFU Student Centre | Enrolled or eligible student | The updated class schedule after submission |
| Find waitlists that mySchedule does not show | goSFU Student Centre | Student in the enrolment period | Class and waitlist status in goSFU |
After applying: use the Student Centre as the live checklist
SFU says an undergraduate applicant receives access after the university emails a student number and password. Sign in at applicant.sfu.ca with the nine-digit student number and temporary password. This applicant route is separate from the Computing ID used by matriculated students.
The Student Centre To-Do List identifies the documents SFU requires for that application. Follow the submission method on SFU's documents page for each item. Do not upload or send a document merely because another applicant needed it, and do not treat an unchecked item as proof that SFU has rejected a document.
Application status updates appear in the Student Centre. SFU's public guidance does not promise an individual decision date after a file becomes complete. Keep the external email address current and monitor it as well as the Student Centre, because SFU uses email to deliver access information and other instructions.
- Wait for SFU's email containing the student number and temporary password.
- Open the applicant sign-in and review every current To-Do List item.
- Use SFU's document instructions for the applicant type and requested record.
- Return to the Student Centre for status changes and the admission decision.
The login changes after you become an SFU student
SFU distinguishes the temporary applicant login from the Computing ID. Applicants use their student number and temporary password. After an offer is accepted, the admission deposit is paid and SFU issues the Computing ID, that ID becomes the credential for goSFU and other student services.
Do not assume the Computing ID is available immediately after applying or paying the deposit. SFU says acceptance and deposit payment are prerequisites, but it sends the email on a published schedule tied to the starting term and describes the undergraduate handoff as occurring after matriculation. Continue using the applicant sign-in until the email arrives, follow its activation instructions, then use the Computing ID for student access.
This guide covers undergraduate access. Graduate applicants follow a different SFU account sequence and should use Graduate Studies instructions rather than the undergraduate applicant sign-in steps.
Use mySchedule to build options, then confirm the result
Open mySchedule through goSFU with a Computing ID. SFU says it generates conflict-free timetable combinations and displays them as a weekly schedule. Course Cart Validation checks prerequisites, but it does not check course reserves or every other enrolment requirement.
A planned schedule is not an enrolment result. SFU says students must proceed to the next step, select an action and submit to finalize enrolment or a drop. Review the class schedule in the Student Centre afterward to confirm that the change succeeded.
Use goSFU when the task falls outside mySchedule. SFU says swap and edit functions are unavailable in mySchedule, and not every waitlist appears there. Course times can also change or a course can be removed, so review the cart before enrolment and rebuild it if the offering changed.
Students in the Surrey IAT One and Beedie School of Business cohorts must follow their cohort enrolment guidance for required core courses each term. Use the cohort instructions or ask the cohort adviser rather than treating a self-built mySchedule result as the complete enrolment plan.
Troubleshoot the stage before the screen
If applicant access fails, first confirm that SFU has sent the student number and temporary password and that you are using applicant.sfu.ca. SFU tells applicants who forgot that password to use Registrar and Information Services help. The applicant sign-in page lists the same office for password assistance.
If mySchedule is unavailable, confirm that SFU has issued and activated the Computing ID and that the account has reached the student stage. For an enrolment problem, check the personal enrolment appointment, prerequisites, reserves, conflicts and changed course offerings. Use goSFU to inspect waitlists and the final schedule.
Use SFU's current Get Help routes for account-specific questions. Registrar and Information Services handles questions about undergraduate admission, enrolment, goSFU, records and forms. IT Services owns Computing ID password reset support. Do not share a password or temporary credential when asking for help.
