Seneca meal plans are optional, even in residence. They load onto your OneCard and work like a debit balance.

Meal plan prices and bonus dollars

Every plan is HST-free and adds bonus dollars on top of what you pay. Seneca's dining page says meal plans go on sale in September 2026. Buy them through the OneCard site.

Each purchase comes off your balance, like a debit card. You don't need a meal plan to live in Seneca Residence.

Where your plan works, and when it expires

Meal plans work at every Seneca Dining Services location at Newnham, King and Seneca@York. They also work at the Subway inside the Newnham residence.

Bonus dollars only work in person at a Seneca dining location, not online or at a kiosk. When a plan expires, any unspent amount you paid moves to regular OneCard dollars, which are no longer tax-free. Unspent bonus dollars are lost.

Food on campus and mobile ordering

Seneca Dining Services offers vegetarian, halal, vegan and gluten-free menus. Its locations include Starbucks, Tim Hortons and Subway, and The Pond is Newnham's cafeteria. Hours are listed separately for King, Newnham and Seneca@York.

With Seneca EATS, you can order ahead online or on your phone at Newnham, Seneca@York and King. Newnham also has ordering kiosks. You can pay with a credit card, OneCard funds or meal plan funds. To use OneCard or meal plan money, register with your Seneca email and add your OneCard details at payment.

The free Seneca Soup Program

Any full- or part-time Seneca student can get free, freshly made soup each day. There are halal, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. You sign up once, and it costs nothing.

To sign up, log in to your OneCard account with your Seneca credentials, open Meal Plan, and add the Seneca Soup Program. Your card isn't charged. Then order soup at a cafeteria at King, Newnham or Seneca@York during regular hours and show your OneCard. You can have one bowl at a time, and you don't need to mention the program to the cashier.

Cooking for yourself in residence

Each residence suite has a kitchenette with a microwave and a full-size fridge. There's also a 24-hour common kitchen with a full-size oven and stovetop on the main floor. Your own appliances must be CSA approved, shut off automatically and have no open element.
