Who can use the facilities, and what it costs

Seneca's registration page says current full-time students can use its gymnasiums and fitness centres free of charge. The membership page lists no fee for current students, covering gym, fitness centre and Newnham field or dome access plus all programming.

Memberships last for the semester you buy them in, whenever you join. Seneca doesn't currently offer alumni or community memberships.

Register before your first visit

Everyone registers and signs a waiver on the Seneca Recreation portal before using a facility. You'll need your virtual Seneca OneCard, with a photo, to get in. Without it, you can't access the facilities.

The Seneca Athletics and Recreation app, on the App Store and Google Play, shows facility hours and schedules. Bring athletic shoes, athletic clothing, a water bottle and your own lock. Seneca doesn't sell or lend locks.

Fall 2026 facility hours by campus

These are the fall 2026 hours Seneca posted on each campus page. Holidays and events can change them, so check the campus page or app on the day.

Newnham's Recreation Office is in the Sport Centre, first floor, room G1600 in Building G. The athletics pages list facilities for Newnham, Seneca@York and King only.

Classes, leagues and drop-in play

Each campus runs its own fall 2026 fitness classes, Bee Leagues and Champion of the Court sessions. Seneca also lists extramural teams, Hive Games and wellness events such as Intro to Fitness sessions at each fitness centre.

Look at the calendar for the campus where you'll actually be. A class at King won't help much if your timetable is at Newnham.

Seneca Sting varsity teams and tryouts

Seneca's varsity teams are the Seneca Sting. They compete in 12 sports provincially in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) and in eight sports nationally in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).

The 2026-27 team list covers badminton, basketball, cross country, indoor soccer, rugby, soccer and volleyball, each with men's and women's teams. Tryouts are open to all full-time Seneca students, whatever campus you study at. Complete the tryout registration form first, then bring your equipment, a water bottle and your OneCard.

Most 2026-27 tryouts were held in early to mid September. If you've missed them, contact the sport's coordinator through the Sting site.
