How Seneca applications work

Domestic and international applicants use different application routes, and each program page remains the authority for current requirements and availability.

Application routes
Seneca sends Canadian applicants to OntarioColleges.ca. Its application guide says an Ontario college application can include up to five program choices across the system. It can include up to three at Seneca. Applicants then use Seneca Student Home for tasks and status. Domestic offers are confirmed through OntarioColleges.ca.
For September entry, Seneca's current requirements page names October 1 as the application opening. It names February 1 as the equal-consideration date. Availability can change. Competitive programs may add tests, portfolios, writing samples, or other selection steps. The date and deposit shown in the offer or current program page are controlling.
International applicants use Seneca's international application process. You upload the academic and language documents they ask for. A study permit is a separate federal process. Key dates for a September start
Seneca admits new students three times a year: September, January and May. Not every program runs every intake, so the start dates on the program page decide which intake you can apply for. Seneca says some popular or highly competitive programs fill very early.
For a September start, programs open on OntarioColleges.ca on October 1 of the previous year. Seneca sends its first fall offers on November 1. February 1 is the equal-consideration date, and after it Seneca reviews applications first come, first served while seats remain. May 1 is the earliest date Seneca will ask you to confirm one program, and most early offers expire then.
Deposits and fee deadlines
After you confirm, Seneca sends your fee details. To guarantee your seat you pay a $200 non-refundable tuition deposit by the fees deposit deadline. For September that deadline is the second Wednesday of June, though your own deadline depends on your offer date. January and May intakes use the second Wednesday of November and March.
Ranking, waitlists and extra steps
A program may have more qualified applicants than seats. Then Seneca ranks applicants by grades in the required courses, any additional admission requirements and the date of application. Other qualified applicants go on a waitlist. Confirming a different program doesn't cost you your waitlist place.
Some programs add an admission session, portfolio, drawing test or writing test that you must finish before Seneca can make an offer. If your final grades aren't in when offers go out, you may get a conditional offer, and you must meet its conditions before the first day of classes. Seneca acknowledges an application by email about 24 hours after you apply.
