UVic First-Year Residence: Dorms, 2026-27 Fees, Guarantee
First-year students at UVic live in dormitory rooms on the Gordon Head campus, and every dorm room includes the meal plan. For 2026-27, a dorm double costs $14,574 and a single $16,666 for September to April. For Fall 2027, you're guaranteed a room if you're graduating from high school in 2027, coming straight to UVic, apply to UVic by January 31 and apply for residence by February 15, 2027. The residence application opens October 5, 2026.

The Fall 2027 first-year guarantee
To be guaranteed housing for 2027-28, you must meet all of these:
- Graduate from high school in 2027.
- Come straight from high school.
- Apply to UVic by the January 31 deadline.
- Apply for residence by February 15, 2027.
First-year rooms and 2026-27 rates
First-year students can choose dorm singles and doubles, plus selected Living Learning Communities in pod-style housing. Cluster housing goes to upper-year students. Rates cover September to April and include heat, hot water, electricity and internet.

- Single rooms are about 100 to 130 square feet; doubles about 180 to 210 square feet.
- Every room has a twin extra-long bed, desk, lamp, chair and a closet or wardrobe.
- The dorm rate includes the $7,756 Standard Residence Meal Plan for 2026-27.
- Canadian students with financial need can apply for the UVic Residence and Meal Plan Bursary, worth up to $1,500, with an eight-month contract.
The dorm neighbourhoods
UVic has 21 dorm buildings. Each has shared lounges with microwaves and smart TVs, and washrooms on every floor, either community bathrooms or single-user rooms. Most buildings are mixed gender, and some have single-gender floors.

- Quiet floors are in Ring Road Hall, Hugh Stephen Hall and Cheko'nien House. Substance-free floors are in Tower and Cluster Housing.
- If your program is at the West Shore campus, note that residence is on the Gordon Head campus.
How to apply
- Have your NetLink ID and an email address you'll keep for at least a year.
- Pay the $50 non-refundable application fee online.
- Rank up to five preferences (room type and community). Preferences aren't guaranteed.
- For a Living Learning Community, answer the supplemental question in the application; spaces are competitive.
- Roommate requests must be confirmed by both students.
Room offers
Residence Services emails offers between mid-March and August, and first-year guarantee students mostly hear before the end of June. You get one offer and 48 hours to accept it by paying a non-refundable acceptance fee and the $250 security deposit and agreeing to the contract. Miss the window and the offer is cancelled.
