University of Calgary co-op and paid internships
UCalgary does not use one campus-wide co-op model. Engineering, Haskayne, and Arts publish different eligibility, timing, and work-term structures. Compare the route attached to the degree—and never read program admission as a guaranteed job placement.
Engineering internship
Paid 12- to 16-month upper-year internship or another approved practical experience
All undergraduate engineering students must complete the practical-experience requirement, but a specific employer placement is not automatic.
Haskayne co-op
Paid full-time work terms of at least 13 weeks each, totalling eight to 16 months
Students compete for roles and must satisfy the current co-op eligibility and sequencing rules.
Faculty of Arts co-op
Paid full-time 12- to 16-week work terms, generally completed in the third and fourth years
Availability and admission depend on the eligible Arts program and current faculty requirements.

Engineering practical-experience requirement
All undergraduate engineering students complete a Practical Experience Requirement. The internship provides 12 to 16 months of paid work with one employer or combined placements. Entry requires a 2.0 GPA, completed first- and second-year courses, and third year finished before starting. Students return for at least one academic year with a capstone after the internship.

Haskayne co-op structure and observed pay
Haskayne co-op requires a minimum of two work terms (8 months) up to four (16 months), each at least 13 consecutive weeks of paid full-time work at 35–40 hours per week. The faculty reports a median hourly wage of about $25 and average annual salary near $48,000, with applications through Elevate each October 1–31 and February 1–28.
