Programs and Pathways
MSVU programs: small-university access with professional depth
MSVU has a very specific academic identity. It offers Canada's only four-year undergraduate Public Relations degree. It has the Atlantic region's distinctive Child and Youth Study program. It was an early Canadian leader in Tourism and Hospitality Management. It also has accredited dietetics education. These sit beside flexible Arts and Science study.
Arts and Science
BA and BSc routes span humanities, social sciences, mathematics, and natural sciences. They include majors, combined majors, honours options, and minors. They also include a limited Arts and Science internship.
Selection: Choose the degree prerequisites at admission. The paid internship is a later, competitive application. It adds a 1.0-unit work term.
Bachelor of Public Relations
MSVU describes its BPR as Canada's only four-year bachelor's degree in Public Relations. The full-time co-op route combines 20.0 academic units with three paid work terms.
Selection: The undergraduate program is limited enrolment and first-come, first-served. Transfer and part-time students may follow a two-term work-experience route instead.
Child and Youth Study
This is the Atlantic region's only degree of its kind. It includes more than 500 hours of practical experience. These settings include schools, hospitals, residential programs, and community services.
Selection: Direct admission is limited enrolment and first-come, first-served. Ontario applicants also need the math preparation that is published.
Tourism and Hospitality Management
MSVU says it was Canada's first university to establish a dedicated Tourism and Hospitality Management program. The 23.0-unit co-op degree includes three paid work terms.
Selection: The co-op route is required for the standard degree. Eligible students with transfer credit or substantial industry experience may use the work-experience route.
Business Administration
You can finish the BBA without co-op. Or you can expand it to a 23-unit co-operative education degree. That degree includes one full year of related paid experience.
Selection: Co-op is optional. You apply for it after enrolment. Current eligibility includes full-time study and a CGPA of at least 2.0.
Applied Human Nutrition
Students start in Nutrition or Dietetics. Later they can apply to internship, practicum, or honours options. The Dietetics pathway and the Internship Education pathway are EQual-accredited.
Selection: The dietetic Internship Education Program is a separate and competitive application. You apply during the degree. You may need to move for practical courses.
Distinctive liberal-arts options
MSVU identifies its Cultural Studies program as the only freestanding program of its kind in Atlantic Canada. It keeps Women's Studies in BA and BSc combinations.
Selection: The 2026–2027 program table says there will be no new admissions to the BSc Science Communication program. So applicants should not treat that listing as open.
Program title is not the whole pathway
Public Relations and Tourism build work terms into their standard routes. Business co-op is optional. Arts and Science internship is a later limited application. The Dietetics internship is separately competitive. The 2026–2027 calendar also says Science Communication is not accepting new students.
