Admissions Planning
Fall 2027 BBA admissions planning
Direct BBA and preparatory year are different entry routes
HEC Montréal does not apply one universal high-school average to every applicant. Quebec DEC students can enter the 90-credit BBA directly. Most Canadian and international secondary-school applicants use the 30-credit preparatory year, while direct BBA applicants from outside Quebec normally bring a qualifying university or preparatory year.
Quebec DEC minimum
R score 27.5
Plus the three published college mathematics courses.
Ontario preparatory route
80% overall + 80% math
Six Grade 12 U/M courses and MHF4U or MCV4U.
French at admission
Intermediate-advanced (B2)
For both the French and bilingual BBA streams.
Fall 2027 evidence boundary
Standing deadlines are live; the cycle calendar is not
The live BBA page publishes March 1 for Canadian applicants and February 1 for international applicants. The preparatory-year page publishes February 1. HEC does not yet label a Fall 2027 opening date or public 2027–2028 academic calendar, so those remain pending.
Entry routes
| Route | Published minimum | Planning boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Quebec DEC to the 90-credit BBA | DEC, R score 27.5, and three specified college math courses | Applicants between 25 and 27.499 may receive a conditional offer. Below 25, HEC publishes a separate DEC-plus-30-university-credit route. |
| Canadian high school to preparatory year | Normally 80% overall and 80% in the province-specific advanced math | Ontario applicants present six Grade 12 U/M courses plus MHF4U or MCV4U. This four-year route is distinct from direct BBA entry. |
| Canadian high school to direct BBA | High-school diploma plus 30 university credits at 2.7/4.3 (B-) | The university year must include differential calculus, linear/vector algebra, and integral calculus or another eligible quantitative course at B-. |
| International secondary school to preparatory year | Country-specific credential, result, and mathematics standard | Examples include France's mention Bien with the published mathematics sequence, IB 32 points with six subjects, or the general 80% plus advanced-math route. |
| International post-secondary preparation to direct BBA | ECG preparatory year, 60 ECTS, or 30 university credits | HEC publishes 12/20 for the 60-ECTS route and 2.7/4.3 (B-) for the 30-credit route, with the required mathematics. |
| Partner institution international pathway | Partner nomination and pathway-specific academic preparation | The 1+1+2, 2+2, and 3+2 pathways are partner arrangements, not an open alternative application route for every international student. |

Language is part of admission, not an afterthought
HEC maps intermediate-advanced French to B2: TEF or TCF 400–499, DELF/DALF B2, or another accepted schooling/program route. The bilingual stream uses HEC's own English test before the term. After admission, use the study-permit guide for the immigration layer.

Programs and Pathways
BBA structure and program fit
One BBA, two admission lengths, multiple academic pathways
The direct route is a 90-credit, three-year BBA. The preparatory route adds 30 credits and one year, then leads into the same BBA. Within the degree, students complete a broad management core before the specialization, mixed-option, or personalized phase.
BBA
90 credits: 54-credit core plus 36-credit specialization phase
Two current admission streams—French and bilingual—with 15 specialization areas including one mixed-only option.
BBA with preparatory year
30-credit preparatory year followed by the 90-credit BBA
A four-year route for applicants whose secondary credential does not yet meet direct-entry preparation.
Bilingual mention
At least 30 BBA credits in French and 30 in English
Requires intermediate-advanced English on HECTOPE before program completion; admission itself does not request an external English score.
International mobility mention
Exchange, Campus Abroad, or internship abroad
Mobility is an optional BBA experience with selection and program-planning constraints.
AGIR track
Active, practical, group-based learning across the first three terms
Selection is required; it is not the default route for every BBA student.
Polytechnique Montréal double degree
Later-entry BBA plus engineering pathway
Applicants must already be in the BBA and meet the internal credit/GPA rules; this is not first-year direct admission.
Applied learning is built into the portfolio
The official program rules allow a combined maximum of 12 program credits from internships, project courses, and Campus Abroad, including no more than nine internship credits. The trading room adds 21 Bloomberg terminals and market simulations for BBA and other HEC programs.
Current program
BBA curriculum structure
The BBA combines a 54-credit compulsory core and a 36-credit specialization phase.

Residence and Campus Fit
Darlington and off-campus planning
HEC has a residence, but only 40 rooms and no broad guarantee
Darlington prioritizes international and out-of-Montréal BBA students in first year or the preparatory year. For 2026–2027 its first-come, first-served rooms filled after the April pre-registration event, so an applicant should plan an off-campus alternative.

2026–2027 monthly rate
$1,045–$1,350

Fall 2027 rates and guarantee

HEC has not released a 2027–2028 residence cycle, and 40 rooms cannot be treated as a broad first-year guarantee.
Fall 2027 housing is not published yet
Do not carry the $1,045–$1,350 range into 2027–2028 or describe residence as guaranteed. HEC's rental guide lists other student residences and private-market planning resources for Montreal.

Co-op, Research, and Career Outcomes
Internships, projects, and mobility
HEC uses credited internships, not one universal co-op stream
Depending on the specialization, a BBA student can credit up to three internships and nine credits. Academic approval is separate from the job search: the student first obtains an offer, then submits it for review against GPA, duration, and management-level duties.

HEC Montréal applicants need to distinguish the 90-credit direct BBA from the four-year preparatory route, match their Quebec, Canadian, international, or partner preparation to the correct mathematics and French requirements, and use the live standing deadlines without inventing a Fall 2027 opening or calendar. They should keep 2026–2027 tuition and Darlington rates labelled as current evidence, apply the France and francophone-Belgium exemption rules carefully, avoid treating 40 first-come rooms as a residence guarantee, and distinguish credited internships from a universal co-op placement.
