The live important-dates page publishes undergraduate deadlines without any cycle year — August 31 for the autumn session, January 5 for winter, February 1 for Nursing, Interior Design, and the 16-month Bachelor of Education at the Moncton campus, May 31 for international autumn entry, and September 30 for international winter entry. Only the separate session calendar carries a year, and it reads Automne 2026: registration deadline September 4, classes start September 9, drop-without-record September 18, and mid-session study days October 26–30.
Because Moncton publishes the deadlines as standing annual dates rather than dated cycle dates, August 31 and May 31 are reasonable Fall 2027 planning anchors — but the university reserves the right to close applications early when volume is high, and the session calendar for Fall 2027 has not been posted.

Language of instruction — the decision an anglophone makes first
Université de Moncton is a French-language university. Its Ontario recruitment page states plainly that a student has the assurance the programme will be delivered in French from first year to last, and that services, the student-success programme, and cultural and social activities are also in French. There is no English-language undergraduate degree route. An anglophone or French-immersion applicant is choosing to complete an entire degree in French.
Moncton documents genuine first-year scaffolding for non-francophones, but the scaffolding runs alongside a French degree — it does not convert any programme into an English one.

Moncton publishes 165 study programmes, of which 40 are at the master's and doctorate level, and more than 35 active research centres, chairs, and institutes. It was created in 1963 and has awarded more than 53,000 degrees. It describes itself as the single most important centre for the social, cultural, and economic development of New Brunswick's Acadian population, with a student body drawn mainly from New Brunswick but also from almost all countries of the international Francophonie.
The Ontario recruitment page advertises 'près de 200 programmes' while the institutional page publishes 165. Treat both as marketing counts and check the programme repertoire for the specific degree.

Three New Brunswick campuses, one university
The university operates three campuses in New Brunswick's francophone regions: Moncton (18, avenue Antonine-Maillet), Edmundston (165, boulevard Hébert), and Shippagan (218, boulevard J.-D.-Gauthier). Each campus has its own admissions inbox, housing inventory, and programme mix, and the university's own student-life page tells applicants to compare the three before choosing.
Some deadlines differ by campus — the 16-month Bachelor of Education is February 1 at Moncton but June 30 at Edmundston and Shippagan for Canadian applicants.

The university groups programs into Conditions A through D. Every route uses five admissible courses, but mathematics and science change with the program. Ontario applicants need 65% across the admission courses, at least 65% in FRA4U, and at least 60% in each other course.

French-language admission route
Sufficient French is an admission condition. The university evaluates admitted students through the file, a placement test, or an interview and assigns FRAN or advanced FLSA courses. French-immersion students complete an oral interview and may use the first-year Groupe-pont pathway; the university says most secondary immersion graduates meet its linguistic expectation.

Condition A: FRA4U at a minimum 65% plus four other Grade 12 university-preparation courses at a minimum 60%. Condition B: FRA4U at 65%, MHF4U at 60%, and three other Grade 12 U courses at 60%. Condition C: FRA4U at 65%, MHF4U at 60%, SBI4U at 60%, SCH4U at 60%, and one other Grade 12 U course at 60%. Condition D: FRA4U at 65%, MHF4U at 60%, two Grade 12 sciences from different disciplines chosen from SBI4U, SCH4U, or SPH4U at 60%, and one other Grade 12 U course at 60%. In every condition the overall average of the courses used for admission must be 65% or higher.
Ontario applicants must have training judged equivalent by the admission committee against Moncton's New Brunswick admissible-course list, so an unusual Grade 12 timetable should be checked with admissions before it is locked in.

MCV4U is recommended, not required
The Ontario condition table carries an explicit footnote: although it is no longer required for admission, the university strongly recommends that applicants to programmes requiring Condition D take MCV4U. Condition D covers Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Biochemistry, Biology, and Kinesiology routes.
Dropping MCV4U will not block an offer, but the university's own wording signals that first-year calculus assumes it.

No CEGEP and no qualifying year for a 12-year diploma
As a New Brunswick institution, Moncton admits Ontario and other twelve-year-diploma applicants directly from Grade 12 into first year. There is no qualifying year and no CEGEP requirement. The exception runs the other way: a Québec applicant holding only a Secondary 5 diploma is assessed if the average across the five admissible courses is at least 75%, and if it is not, that applicant must first complete at least 12 CEGEP general-education credits with an average of at least 65%.
This is the structural advantage of a francophone university outside Québec: the Québec tuition-residency and CEGEP machinery simply does not apply here.

Moncton's own application, no centralised service
Applicants create an account on the Portail UMoncton and apply directly — there is no OUAC or equivalent centralised service. Canadian applicants pay a $70 file-review fee, which is added to tuition in the first session of registration. International applicants pay a non-refundable $300 CAD file fee, of which $230 CAD is credited against university fees at the start of the first session. A complete file is normally processed in four to six weeks; programme changes and campus transfers take two to four weeks.

How the deadlines actually behave
The university reserves the right to close applications before the published dates depending on volume, and states that undergraduate applications received after the published dates are automatically carried forward to the following session rather than refused. Nursing, Interior Design, and the 16-month Bachelor of Education at the Moncton campus close on February 1 — roughly seven months earlier than the general August 31 date.
The dates page still carries a stale 2021 notice about study-permit processing at the top; read past it to the deadline lists, which are the current content.

French evidence for immersion and anglophone applicants
To register through the immersion route an applicant must first pass an oral interview, by telephone or during a visit to the Moncton campus, arranged with the immersion programme lead before an admission application is submitted. The university states that most students who finished secondary school in immersion satisfy its linguistic requirements. A French-level evaluation is optional for reassurance but becomes mandatory for anyone who wants to bypass the immersion programme and register as a regular student. A written evaluation is strongly advised — though not required — for Information-communication, Translation, and French Studies.
The admission committee may in some cases consider a candidate who does not meet the Grade 12 French-course requirement, so a weak FRA4U result is worth raising with admissions rather than assuming refusal.

First-year non-francophone status: writing in English
An admitted student may request the special 'étudiante ou étudiant non francophone' status, granted by the faculty dean, but only for the first year of full-time study in a regular programme. The status allows tests and assignments to be written in English, except in language courses. The immersion route itself delivers four French-as-a-second-language courses across the first year — two per session — after which a student continues normally with the rest of the curriculum.

AP and IB credit — the two official pages disagree
The admission-conditions page states that Moncton grants credit for International Baccalaureate subjects at both standard and higher level judged equivalent to its own courses when the result is 4/7 or better, and says nothing about Advanced Placement. The French-immersion admission page states that credit is granted for higher-level subjects only, at 4/7 or better for IB and 3/5 or better for AP. Both pages are current.
Do not budget an IB standard-level credit until the faculty confirms it in writing; credit is granted by the faculty that owns the programme, not by central admissions.

For applicants outside Canada, Conditions A–D are expressed as French-system baccalauréat streams rather than course codes: Condition A accepts the lettres et sciences humaines, littéraire (L), économique et sociale (ES), pédagogique, sciences économiques, sciences économiques et de gestion, sciences expérimentales, sciences mathématiques, and scientifique (S) series; Conditions C and D require sciences expérimentales, sciences mathématiques, or scientifique (S). Common law taught entirely in French
The Faculté de droit was founded in 1978 to meet what it calls a pressing need: to give francophones across Canada 'une formation en common law entièrement en langue française'. It describes itself first and foremost as an institution teaching common law in French, is a member of the Council of Canadian Law Deans, and publishes the Revue de la common law en français. Its own pages announce the move from the LL.B. to the J.D.
The faculty's own pages do not claim to be one of only two French-language common law programmes in the world. Do not repeat that framing without a source — what is verified is that it teaches common law entirely in French and was founded for that purpose.

Law is not a direct-entry route from high school. The university's own undergraduate guide states that a student must first complete a bachelor's degree before pursuing law. The Faculté de droit publishes a separate 'Conditions d'admission — Règlements particuliers' section, but those detail pages were not reachable at this review, so the exact current J.D. prerequisites, LSAT expectations, and deadline are unverified.
A high-school applicant should not plan on direct entry to law. Choose an undergraduate programme on its own merits and confirm the J.D. prerequisites directly with the Faculté de droit before assuming a route.

The D.S.S. preparatory diploma and the medicine route
Moncton states that anglophone New Brunswick students enrolled in its Diplôme préparatoire aux sciences de la santé (D.S.S.) are eligible for medical studies at the Centre de formation médicale du Nouveau-Brunswick, which is located on the Moncton campus. The D.S.S. sits in the Condition D admission pattern.
The published eligibility statement names anglophone New Brunswick students specifically. An Ontario or international applicant should confirm eligibility with the Bureau du recrutement étudiant before treating the D.S.S. as a medicine pathway.

Which campus owns which regional strength
The co-op programme list attributes Forest Management to the École de foresterie at the Edmundston campus (UMCE), and Information Management plus Sustainable Development and Coastal Zone to the Shippagan campus (UMCS). Occupancy and shared-unit rules
All rates are quoted per person and the holiday period is not included. Tenants sharing a university apartment are responsible for keeping the unit fully occupied if a roommate leaves: in a one-bedroom apartment, a tenant who does not want to replace a roommate must absorb the vacant share, and occupying a two-bedroom apartment alone is prohibited. Each tenant of a shared unit must submit a reservation request listing every occupant; incomplete requests are not considered.

Current award cycle
The one published residence guarantee runs through a scholarship
The Bourse Premier départ is the only Moncton mechanism that guarantees a residence place. The award page states that it guarantees a spot in university housing and that housing fees are free for the first session of study. It is worth up to $3,000, is non-renewable, and closes March 1.

Meal plans are not bundled into the residence rate
Unlike most Ontario residence systems, Moncton's 2026-2027 residence fee table contains no mandatory meal plan line — the rates cover the room only. Food Services publishes meal plans separately, and the plan document linked from the Moncton campus Food Services page was still labelled 2025-2026 at this review.

If the admission application is submitted before February 1, the Distinction académique offer is calculated on Grade 11 marks alone and that offer is honoured regardless of first-semester Grade 12 results. A recalculation at the end of February then adds first-semester Grade 12 marks, and the award is increased if the average rises. Applying after January 31 but before graduation means the calculation uses Grade 11 plus first-semester Grade 12; applying after graduation means all Grade 11 and 12 courses count.
