- Use current SAIT pages for contact details.
SAIT residence uses academic-year rates
The current residence page publishes 2026–27 rates, dates, deposit and mandatory residence charges.
SAIT’s published 2026–27 academic-year residence dates are August 29, 2026 to April 24, 2027. The agreement can end earlier, on the day after your last exam, unless an approved arrangement changes your dates. A first-time applicant pays a $100 non-refundable application fee and a $200 security deposit before acceptance; residents also pay a $60 Residence Life Activity Fee and an $85 Insurance Fee. Room types and payment plans differ.
More about residence and housing
Begin Tower has private studios and two-bedroom, one-bathroom suites priced per bedroom and person. East Hall has one-bedroom and four-bedroom suites. The page lists kitchens or kitchen facilities within the room layouts; confirm the exact floor plan before choosing. Residence fees are separate from tuition, and government loans are not sent directly to Residence.
Academic-year residents must maintain full-time status, defined on the application page as nine or more course credits each semester. The signed agreement also controls eligibility and occupancy conditions. SAIT accepts applications year-round and sends offers as spaces become available, so applying does not guarantee a room. Meal plans are optional. Returning residents still apply, but the application fee is waived and the security deposit is held for the next year.
Cancellation can create a substantial charge. The 2026–27 academic-year agreement charges occupied days on a prorated basis plus 5% of total housing fees before August 1, 15% after August 1 but before September 1, or 25% after September 1. As checked September 12, the 25% band was the current academic-year band. Read the agreement you sign for the final obligation and use the payment date in your offer or current Housing Hub if applying after the published full-year due date.

Decision checklist
- Compare the academic-year dates with your program term.

- Confirm room availability and the payment date in your offer or Housing Hub.
- Read the signed agreement’s cancellation and refund terms before accepting.
- Decide whether an optional meal plan fits your term and budget.
Separate tuition, fees and funding
SAIT’s 2026–27 fee guidance separates domestic and international tuition from mandatory ancillary fees and program estimates.
SAIT says the amount paid depends on citizenship status, program and course load. Its 2026–27 tuition and fee changes are effective July 1, 2026, and tuition is listed separately from mandatory SAIT and Saitsa fees. Program pages can provide an estimated total using a recommended schedule, as the IT Services example does.
More about costs and financial aid
Student Awards uses mySAIT. New students choose the entrance-award application, all students use the credit-award application, and apprentices use the apprentice application. Submit once per academic year; some awards need added documents, while others are assessed automatically from the application. Full-time award eligibility generally means at least nine credits, and SAIT says domestic and international students and attending apprentices may apply. Selection and payment are not guaranteed.
The Bissett Bursary is a narrower prospective-student route. It is for domestic applicants age 24 or under from Calgary or within one hour, with no prior postsecondary education and financial need. Eligible study includes certificates, diplomas and pre-employment programs; degrees and apprenticeships are excluded. The Fall 2026 deadline has passed. SAIT lists November 28, 2026 for Winter 2027 and February 15, 2027 for Spring 2027.
Decision checklist
- Use the fee table for your status and course load.
- Read the program estimate and schedule assumptions.
- Check current aid eligibility and deadlines.
- Ask SAIT directly when a fee or funding rule is unclear.
SAIT student life, recreation and support
Find learning and wellbeing support, the current recreation venue and student clubs that fit your interests.
Find learning and wellbeing support
The Lamb Learner Success Centre describes accessibility services including classroom and exam accommodations, equipment loans, funding-application assistance, consultations and referrals. New students begin with an intake form and then receive next-step booking information. Ask early if documentation or accommodation planning may affect a class or placement.
SAIT counselling services are free for current students and cover personal, educational and career counselling. The first-year experience page also routes students to academic advising, tutoring, writing, testing, Indigenous student support and other services. Availability and eligibility belong to each service page.
Recreation and student clubs
SAIT’s temporary Wellness Centre is behind East Hall on Main Campus while the new Campus Centre is under construction. Current SAIT and AUArts students and employees can use its cardio equipment, free weights and full-size court. Bring an eCard and clean, indoor, non-marking footwear, and check the live schedule before travelling.
For a social or professional connection, Saitsa runs the student-clubs directory and portal. Students use a SAIT account to browse clubs and events; the same page explains how to propose a new club using a SAIT email. Check the directory before committing time or dues because active groups, events and membership conditions can change during the year.
Health care and safety on campus
SAIT's medical clinic serves everyone in the SAIT community, and students in the dental program run a lower-cost dental clinic on campus from January to May. The health and wellness page also links the student health and dental plans and sexual violence support. For any emergency on campus, call Campus Security at 403-284-8000; for an immediate life-or-death emergency, call 911.
Decision checklist
- Start an accessibility intake if you need accommodations.
- Use counselling or academic supports early.
- Check the first-year service map for the right office.
Verify transfer and work-integrated learning details
SAIT provides transfer-credit and career tools, while any WIL or pathway condition must be checked for the specific program.
SAIT’s Transfer Credit page says previous post-secondary learning may be assessed for credit toward SAIT courses. The process and required documents depend on the applicant’s study history, so apply through the current transfer-options route and ask SAIT about the program-specific decision.
More about careers and work experience
Career Advancement Services helps students, new graduates and alumni with employer connections, resumes, interviews, LinkedIn and job-search resources. My Career Hub provides job postings, events, appointments, experiential education and industry mentorship. These services support preparation; they do not guarantee employment. A program’s own page controls whether a practicum, co-op, capstone or other WIL element is required.
Decision checklist
- Ask about transfer credit before assuming course equivalency.
- Check the exact program page for any WIL requirement.
- Use My Career Hub for current career tools and events.
- Research employer terms before accepting an opportunity.
